Default After cheap CCTV DVR system

    Hey,

Ive been looking on eBay at the various (cheap) DVR CCTV systems.

Im looking for a 4 channel one.

    Have a few prerequisites though........

    1. cameras fed by coax. (pretty common)

    2. Power to camera fed by coax.

I don't want to have to run power (dc) cable as well, or to have external power injectors, just KISS principle.

I'd even settle for a CAT5/6 system where power to the camera was fed via cat5/6 as well as video.

Its only for home use. Doesn't need to be supplied with a HDD, I have one I can put in.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks peeps

Swann. Go to Bunnings and get one with pre-terminated cables. Power over coax isn't going to happen, and cat5 with baluns doesn't fit your KISS principle.

Either that or hit up eBay.

Dont bother with the 'coax' setup..
Lookup Hikvision 7608NI-SE/P and 2CD2332 cameras.
one cat.5 from the NVR to each camera, and one from the NVR to your internet router for remote access if required.
Aus stock your looking around $1500 for NVR with hard drive and 4x cams, but the quality will be much better than any of the analog offerings.
you will also find sample footage on youtube

I use one of these at home good enough for me. reliable had no issues with it.

only analog cameras but work well enough, just chucked in a 1tb dvr hdd and away she goes .My mate has a swan system and says my 700tvl camera is better than his swann cameras for pic quality. and has conned me into supplying him a couple of cameras to replace his swan ones.
Just my 2 cents worth hope it helps.

just a side note I have replaced 1 camera with a cheap 1200 tvl off ebay with a wide lens and placed that by the front door and it is much better quality when zooming for facial images..
I am to much of a tight arese to go down the HD route for home use .

Looks like the one I have in my office as a comparison to the 2 meg, 3 meg, 4 meg and 4K camera's
