    C. Southern Cross Austereo want to divest their involvement in TV altogether by selling to NINE and concentrating on their more profitable Radio Network?
    D. Broadcast Australia play hardball with WIN to renegotiate rates while WIN are backed into a corner?

Sounds like a TV Drama series in the making. Now there's some content for WIN right there. Perhaps Gorden should ring his mate Mr Crawford.
A: depends on what Nine Ent Co buys or they merge ops with SCM.

Remember SCMA also has the Seven Media contracts for several regions with the main being 7Central ...

B: if the media lass get changed they can do what ever they want as they have the $$$, the issue is what happens if Labor gets in (and there is even money on that happening) do they adop what Co-alition have done or do they rip it up and make there own changes which they wanted to do in 2014 which was dump the reach rule but not the 2 out of 3 rule.

C: the radio side is struggling ATM, Murdoch Jnr is making head waves with DMG (Nova) and those AFL/NRL contracts are not cheap. If Nine and SMCA merge the first thing to will be Austereo.

D: what does BA have to do with WIN?

Apart from the fact that WIN pays rent to BA for quite a few co-located transmitter sites....nothing!

But the original remark was that BA might play hard ball with WIN and back WIN into a corner.

In this case I don't think so, if you search to see if issues have happened in the past you find nothing about it so to me it's a non issue.

Is this BA (Broadcast Australia) a company who offers distribution/transmission facilities to broadcasters because if so, it wouldnt pay them to be too voracious because I am sure the Broadcasters could find another company to do it for them just as I am equally sure another Company would be happy to do so.

You would think, but like the mobile companies it is cheaper to actually sell the site to specialist companies and lease it back (VHA do that with Captial Towers) and Optus does the same and Telstra do that also but not as much.

WIN from memory owns most of there broadcast transmitters/translators epscially in the important Wollongong and Cambeltown zones, if the rule goes (depending in who wins the now called July 2 election) then I would think WIN will use the Cambeltown transmitter (where they do FM radio) to go right into the Sydney market with there potentially own TV channel WIN TV.

Coles, Woolworths and Bunnings have done the same thing by selling off and leasing back with renewable contracts BUT I am sure you have heard or seen the situation occur where they decide NOT to renew the Contract and because no one else has a need or use for the 'property', the 'owners' are stuck with a now non earning but costly to them venture.

I am sure WIN would by using that location at Campbelltown be simply providing a better coverage for their viewers in their authorised area but as we know, Radio waves dont recognised boundaries so any overflow into another area would be out of their control.

I now hear that the channel LCN's in rural and regional markets are going to change. When and how, I don't know yet and my mole could say.

    My understanding is:
WIN will be on LCN 08 (it will be branded as WIN there will be no Channel 10 branding other than where channel 10 say their channel name but will also say on the WIN TV network) - MPEG2 SD

WIN HD will be on LCN 84 (will be branded as WIN HD there will be no Channel 10 branding other than when channel 10 say their channel name but will also say on the WIN TV network).

    11 will be on LCN 83 - MPEG2 SD

ONE will be on LCN 82 - MPEG4 SD

Gold will be on LCN 85 - MPEG2 SD

The potential new channel will be MPEG4 and probably be on LCN 80, what is the name of the channel? I can't say right now but the talk is that Network 10 metro stations will be taking the channel as part of the new WIN and Network 10 line up, in metro the LCN will probably be on 16.

WIN are not taking TVSN and Aspire will stay with SCMA.

SCMA are going to take the same Nine LCN slots and will fully brand everything as Nine, they continue with the 1minute per hour news and weather updates and weather updates every 2 hours, that will come from there TV HQ (ACT) in order to maintain the current broadcast requirements.

In another twist SCMA and Network 10 have signed off in the Newcastle / Northern Rivers (basically what used to be NRTV) PSD which means basically in that North NSW broadcast zone they are going to do both Nine (taking over NBN from WIN which currently does sales and transmission for Nine in those regions) and Ten (the new deal means that WIN won't be in that region any longer).

Perhaps you should switch your information source to TV Tonight. It seems to deliver more quickly than your current one.

Good job that you spotted that it was out of date. According to the date line that was showing on the article this morning..... tvtonight beat it to the punch. You really should get better sources.

You do realise that when people talk it's not always at the same time official announcements are made right?

The Fairfax article mind you is dated 23 May 2016 (which is today Monday).

I am not really keeping an eye on these things right now, more important things going on like oh I don't know trying to figure out future 5 network systems. Did I just give away something if interest with that ? Probably not.

If I have offended anyone by using different usernames than I apoligise, but seriously its a joke and if people can't take jokes then they should not be in here.

I have and always use the disclaimer line:
Until its official nothing is official.

For people to not understand what that means when I am speculation then so be it, don't reply that is your choice you can make, if you want to add to the conversation you are welcomed to do so but to get mad and complain to moderators
is silly as you have again a choice to either disregard or contribute, its your choice, to complain says two things to me:
1: you work for these companies and are trying to figure out where the info is coming from

    or

2: you know info but are unwilling to share it.

But please stop the BS complaining to moderators, your an adult not a child and as such again you have a choice to either contribute or not.

You were both warned, unofficially and officially.

You can both take a break from this thread.

It's a shame really, as you both contributed some useful information, but I will not tolerate PM's arguing and accusing me of moderating unfairly towards one party or another.
