Impeachment is made more redundant by the fact that the US House of Reps has always voted on party lines for these issues. If the proponents hold the balance, the indictment will of course proceed.

It is similar to when there are no confidence motions in Australian parliaments. They generally begin in the Upper House, but never get through the Lower House, where the balance is held by the Government. It is a mere political stunt at the end of the day, a waste of parliament’s time. The US impeachment process is the same.

The US Senate will find Trump not guilty. It will then be another case of him ‘beating’ charges, as he did with the last impeachment, which will do little more than add fuel to his mob who believe he is being targeted.
I think you are not considering that 10 Republicans have crossed over and 5 have abstained in this latest impeachment.
I wouldn't say it is impossible for Trump to be found guilty this time.

It must be clear that the whole point of the exercise is to stop Trump from holding office again.

However it could be done much easier without impeachment using the 14th Amendment and just simple majority:

Section 3. No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may, by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

The fact that there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.

Is Donald Trump the worst US president ever? Historians say so
    see

Scholars say Trump's efforts to overturn his election defeat, as well as his response to COVID-19, have cemented his place as America's worst president.

It was not until 1948 – more than 150 years since the first US presidential election – that anyone tried to create a systematic ranking of American presidents.
At the request of Life magazine, Harvard University historian Arthur M. Schlesinger polled 55 historians and asked them to rank the men who had held the presidency from first to last.
    A good read.

The question by his supporters, and there is some merit to this, is why is Trump being ‘prosecuted’ for his comments during the latest riots, when other Senators and politicians (including a current Vice-President Elect) have used more specific and inflammatory words during other prior recent riots?

Trump is the President, so he should be held to a higher (highest?) standard. But elected Senators and other politicians should also be held to a higher standard, and when no action has been taken against the others many months after the fact, it is easy to see why Trump’s supporters hold the view he is being targeted unfairly.

Biden suffers from serious dementia? What Federal Official said this? Name, date, etc. He's certainly a creepy old fart -but that's just my opinion. The only Federal Official I've heard saying that is Trump himself, and well - let's just say he's got a veracity gap to overcome.

As far as the substance to Trump's claims - why didn't Trump's team of crack lawyers actually present any of that substance in court? If you've been paying attention, that's exactly where Rudy Giulliani & Sydney Powell said they were going to present all their evidence, because showing the little people all the actual evidence they had would have hurt their upcoming court cases.

Again - why did Trump Under perform every other Republican running on the same ballot in those swing States he lost? Did the Dem's really cheat just bad enough to win the Presidency - but didn't bother with the rest? Did the Dems only bother cheating in the swing States?

The significant statement in the article is:-

Some takeaways: Few items are outright false, which is something to celebrate in the age of QAnon conspiracy theories. Some are misleading and some are absolutely true. About a quarter relate to Mr. Trump’s signing of bills that Congress passed, many of which he had little to do with. A large portion of items on the list credit Mr. Trump for a booming economy, which is no longer booming because of the coronavirus pandemic.

James Murdoch has weighed into the whole sorry mess, pointing the finger at the US media:-
    see

James Murdoch has condemned the US media for “propagating lies” which have unleashed “insidious and uncontrollable forces” that will endure for years.

Questioned about whether Fox News – founded by his father Rupert Murdoch and run by his brother Lachlan – had played a role in the riot at the Capitol last week, he said media groups had amplified election disinformation, which successfully sowed falsehoods.

Providing his sternest reproach yet of the US news industry since stepping away from the family business, Murdoch stopped short of naming Fox News but the comments will be seen as a thinly veiled rebuke.

“The damage is profound,” he told the Financial Times in an interview. “The sacking of the Capitol is proof positive that what we thought was dangerous is indeed very much so. Those outlets that propagate lies to their audience have unleashed insidious and uncontrollable forces that will be with us for years.

“I hope that those people who didn’t think it was that dangerous now understand, and that they stop.”

He added that the media would inevitably face “a reckoning” after being “co-opted by forces that only want to stay in power, or are manipulating our discourse from abroad and are only too happy to make a mess and burn things down.”

In a subsequent statement issued jointly with his wife, Kathryn, they added: “Spreading disinformation – whether about the election, public health or climate change – has real world consequences. Many media property owners have as much responsibility as the election officials who know the truth but instead choose to propagate lies.

“We hope the awful scenes we have all been seeing will finally convince those enablers to repudiate the toxic politics they have promoted once and forever.”

You see that is the trouble with James, like his Granny and sister in law (Sarah) he has a conscious, that never troubled the old Prune for if you have read any book about him, truth is second to profit. Remember him, James, squirming in court re The Sun ( A shit rag with a topless on page 3, no attempt at truth, funny and best selling rag in Britain, remember Samantha Fox, boy they were great tits, not that i noticed of course) inquiry in London where they were being investigated re phone tapping of celebrities mobile phones, he was the fall guy
IMHO the only good thing re Murdoch Enterprise is it gives Australia access and influence world wide, more than normally expected of a country Australia's size, through the Murdoch family
Conspiracy theory, maybe the $10 mill recently given to the Murdoch Enterprise by the current Govt "to spend as you see fit" was forwarded to Biden's campaign. Nah these things never happen, do they

Yep, just saw the farewell speech by Trump, Interesting! We might see a split within the Republican party..
The standard Republican party and the Trump Republican party. He has enough support.

If he does get convicted of impeachment then it will be interesting how a Trump party could work and who they appoint as their leader.
Maybe Guiliani might get a job change or that QAnon dude with the horns.

I don't think a Trump party would be sustainable.
Don't forget those 74M voted for the Republican party not just Trump.
After the insurrection I think many(if not most) Republicans and their voters got the much needed whack with a plank on their foreheads to clear their minds, a mild lobotomy so to speak.

I believe proper Republican people don't like this division and extremist shit that Trump brought about, just as little as anybody with a clear mind.
