you might get new channel free to air, move to IPTV mate save yourself some pain
Hi.
I have just purchased a STR-4922a settop box and updated to the newest firmware too.
I have a new FOXTEL dish installed about 2 years ago on the wall and wanted to know what i can do or get free with this box.
I understand there is no hacks for the digital signal like there used to be with the gold wafer cards.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

In another posting it was suggested there were still 3 FTA channels available on C1/D3 and if one of them is Al Jazerra, you had to set the ViD's and PiD's yourself as they were not 'standard' for some reason.
Along with Foxtel there is VAST but unfortunately they are all encrypted.
Depending on how easy it is to access the dish, you may be able to redirect it to say D2 as it carries some programming I believe.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!
the only free to air channels ive noticed on C1/D3 is Al Jazerra, Expo, foxtel help and TVSN
Aljazeera will scan in fine these days. I think there are a couple of ABC channels that are open also.

XCRUISER HDSR600HD twin sat and terrestrial receiver $OOS *
XCRUISER HDSR385 Avant - sold out$OOS UltraPlus DVB-T and DVB-S2 tuners $49 Remotes $OOS
All above are still there.
As LP mentioned, Aljazeera scans in easily and there are an additional 8 x various ABC channels (1, 2, 3 & 24) all FTA.
Another 2 x VAST info channels and 3 x Optus test channels are FTA, but only worth watching if you're completely bored.
There are some others with picture and no sound (Aljazeera and Expo copy channels), and occasionally, a foxtel channel may become FTA for a short time, but doesn't last long.
A simple blindscan will bring them all up, then delete the encrypted channels and you will have the above FTA channels.
As others mentioned, you're best bet is to move the dish and pickup other nearby sats.

If you're feeling adventurous, you could get a satellite finder and move the dish to Intelsat 19. You should first look at Lyngsat for exactly what Tv you want to watch. Then look up how to point a ku band dish properly. Users on this forum can help you as well obviously.
There is a lot more FTA Tv with a c-band polar dish, but this is quite an investment in time and money. Good luck.
