    Default Tech2

I recently purchased a Tech2, reason is i'm getting more and more customers being tired of being ripped off by the Holden dealers, I bought 2 lots of software the Holden software that covers all Holden cars from 99-2015, plus the K-line software specifically for all Isuzu engines Rodeo/Jackaroo. Well what an investment its been, 2 weeks ago a fella's 3 litre jackaroo just stopped dead, Holden wanted to charge him $280 just to hook up the Tech2 and pin point the issue, he refused to do it, one of his mates mentioned I could help, so I went around to his home hooked up and found his oil pressure sensor on the common rail had faulted, Holden wanted $418 for this small part, As the 3 litre diesel jackaroo run a CAT engine I sourced a genuine sensor for him from the States, cost $90 delivered to the door and arrived in 7 days, fitted the part, programmed it in with Tech2 and hit the starter and she fired straight up, one happy customer with a total bill of $290.Last week A elderly lady rang me and her jackaroo was driving along fine, then just clunked and stopped,Holden quoted her a $6000 repair bill, saying injectors and seals were shot, she asked could I take a look, so trailered it back to my shed, sure enough radiator full of diesel and the fuel tank with coolant in it, yep common fault, injector sleeve O-rings failed,Tech2 recorded 0 faults, so removed the rail and injectors, removed sleeves O-rings were shot, so ordered a complete overhaul kit from a mate in Victoria this included all O-rings and 4 new copper injector seals, total cost of parts $98 total time and labour 4 hours, replaced all water hoses cost $70, total bill for this lady $620, she was one extremely happy customer. Its so nice to be able to have the right gear and to really help people out and not ripp people blind, seriously Holden labour hourly rate is $122 +GST, that is disgusting. So do any members here own a Tech2? or any other fancy equipment? share away

    Nice going, mate!

No auto diagnostics (not in that line of work) but plenty of 'toys' in RF, data and optical comms areas.

i'm not 100% sure , but i think the K line software is also useable for Mitsubishi , Hyundai and Kia. K line is mentioned a few times in the wiring diagrams.

Good one Rick. I'd like to be able to justify something like that, but, as I only muck around with cars, I can't.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

Nice Rick, I know where to send my Holden friends now.

    I just got .
Comprising of a main interface dual K Line lead with 3 pin FAL adaptor.
Total cost $43.11Au delivered from UK; took 2 weeks.
It's an OBD connector adapted to USB that enables Laptop to connect to ECU of Italian & some other Motorcycles.

As I now have an Aprilia & wifes Ducati, I felt it necessary to have this equipment as I don't trust Dealers.
This can be used for fault finding of , Fault Code clearing/resetting, Throttle Learning & Handle Learning procedures to name a few of it's uses.

Software is free & enables thru an FTDI driver the use of the cables.

Also more software available; is &

Plenty of instructions & help forums for software use; makes it a great package.
All good stuff for European bikes, very easy to use & good price.

Too right, i fixed an issue with my Mrs Vehicle, that 2 Dealerships and 3 Separate Mechanics couldn't fix (probably for lack of trying)
It was the Front Proximity Sensors not beeping
All they had to do was tick the box on the right page and select which sound it was to make.
Apparently that is too hard for them, we were told it was working correctly and they could find no fault

    More like too hard basket.

Hey Rick, is this the Chinese version off Ebay?
What version of Holden software is on it?
And most importantly, can it do programming of modules and key remotes?

Good going Rick, sometimes you need to spend a few bucks to make some more, great that this tool is paying (paid) itself off and bring in work, and spreading the word.

    Fancy tools?

Just got myself a new 4 axis CNC in from the US at the beginning of this year, $40K, assembled (took a good week) wired up, tooled and running. CAD and CAM Software took a bit of time to learn. (as did the machine)

Why? Because now i can make my own parts as i please, just need the raw steel or alloy stock, the skys the limit.

Need a part? Sit down draw it in 3d CAD, sort out the tooling, covert it to CAM and simulate it on screen to check for errors before milling anything.

Has it worked? Hell yes, on average im working from 11pm till 9am (night shift), sleep 2 hours while my son takes over running it during the day, wake up at 11am, do the running around, then work till 6 pm then sleep till 11pm, rinse and repeat at least 3-4 nights a week.

Will be buying another one at the end of this year to keep up with demand, ive held back products only because i cannot keep up with one machine with the few products ive made.

And the best part is MADE IN AUSTRALIA.

So Retirement is going well then Godz
And by "parts" do you mean hand guns for the Western Suburbs?

Looks very impressive mate, well done

Reminds of friend in Geelong that bought a $120K CNC Router Table from a Trade Show
He purchased it, set it up and had no idea what he was going to make with it, he just knew he wanted it

Ended up making Sunglass Display Cabinets for Oakley and RipCurl, with a routed in logo.

So do you need any TIS approval to program??
Can you program VE keys with it?
Where did you get it from and for how much, if you don't mind me asking?

If you just want to check and clear codes any cheap OBD2 scanner should do it.
If you want more than that it seems that you have to try them to see how much they can do.
Have you tried looking on a Navara forum to see what people are using?

Hey Rick, not sure if you are still playing with Tech2 and 3.0L 4JX1 Jackaroos, but have you heard of a version of the Tech2 software for Holdens that allows you to reprogram Immobilizer & Keys without TIS2000 approval? I've seen a bloke advertising it on Gumtree, so just wondering if you've ever come across it yourself?
