    Default Lg - le5016d-nh

    G'day guys,

Just chasing information on the LG brand LE5016D-NH DVR's, I have 2 of them here and not too sure what to do with them. They both work perfectly and were only removed due to an upgrade.

So, in short. Worth keeping? Or are they complicated to the point of not being practical for a house? also is anyone able to confirm that they do infact run motorised cameras (cmon we have all played metal gear solid and have wanted to see if we can get from point A to point B without being seen...)

I do also have a Checkpoint brand (no idea) which came from a shop which supposedly does facial recognition and SMS alerts among other stuff.

I have Coaxial cameras, video ballans and 100m of CAT5e cable. I was also told I should be able to run the power for cameras through the CAT5e cable. Same guy is a licensed installer. Newbie here, so any information is appreciated.

    Cheers,

    B

It's debatable as it can only handle 2 IP cameras. The other (up to 14) cameras will need to be analogue, and will only display in D1 resolution. With the industry moving away from analogue, and towards HD or IP systems (or hybrids offering both), you may well be better off sending them the way of the dodo, and installing something a bit more up to date. Add in the D1 resolution, which even at the end of analogue's life was already out of date (960H was out by then), and at best you'll be installing yesterday's technology, no one will be too keen to support, and frankly I think you'll only end up cursing yourself at a later date.

That's a fair call, thank you.

I have 2 of these units plus another which is a smaller set-up for a small shop. I'd only use any of these for a house if at all. Just haven't been sure if I should get rid of the two LG and keep the Checkpoint one of sell the checkpoint and one LG and use the other.
