Default Windows 10 After Win 7 Restore

    Gdday,

Question: One of my laptops was Windows 7. The missus let something in from Faceache and it started giving her trouble, so two days ago I restored from a restart point to fix the problem and it was fine. This morning when she got up it installed Windows 10 without permission. Is this common?

I mean it's not the end of the world, but it pisses me off. Has anyone else had something like this happen?

AFAIK there has to be some input from the user for the W10 upgrade process to go ahead; Tick a box & agree to the terms etc.

Sounds strange that it would be automatic as I thought you actually have to take up the offer.

Having said that a quick google indicates it's happening & people are pissed off.

    Hmm!! That's a bit rude???

Apparently it can only happen if you have automatic updates set to install.
If you have updates set to notify, it will download the necessary Gb's of files before asking you to install it.
    Cheers, Tiny

Yes, It really pisses me off that it does that automatically so if you have one of the newer computers with a relatively small SSD such as 128GB, that unauthorised download fills your limited free space. Then on top of that it puts a nag icon in your taskbar and a popup nag screen until you change settings to disable notifications of the bloody thing

That is the standard process these days, Windoze 10 is part of the monthly update patches. You have to disable that particular KB: (3035583 IIRC) to prevent kit.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...
