    Default Newbie advise Ku Band

Hi guys, I have a Ku Band Foxtel satellite dish on my house that I recently disconnected from their service

My partner is from Hong Kong and I was wondering as to what channels I could get from either HK, China or Taiwan with the dish I have (I live in Melbourne) ?

also what would be the best satellite decoder to buy as there is a heap out there and I have little knowledge on what to purchase?

    Thanks in advance.

    Not much at all.

IPTV would be a better option for you.

    Optus D2

CNC Chinese (Chinese language) and CNC World (English or Chinese/subtitle) on 12706V 22500

Not sure which chinese dialect...don't speak the stuff myself

Could be others...not something I've really looked for, but hopefully that might be a start

D2 also has Press TV (Iran), IFilm (Iranian movies..dubbed English) and RT (Russia).....Press TV and RT are both English.

heaps of decoders around, as you say....I have several Strong boxes and have had no problems.

Think their current entry level box is SRT4955.

    It's a good basic receiver.

Yes, it decodes all unencrypted HD sat signals.

NHK is the national broadcaster from Japan, so no Chinese language(s) on that channel.

I think that I saw recently that the NHK Ku-band channel is encrypted.

I wonder if the encryption is as a result of Foxtel now showing Russian, Chinese and Japanese English language programs now?
