According to Lyngsat, only between 160~200cm C-Band dish does receive the VTV signal ( EIRP (dBW) 36 in Sydney ). How's that game for you ?? Us around near Melbourne receiving VinaSat 1 signal at EIRP (dBW) 35 (180~220). Still, it's not a cup of tea for me as it's Vietnamese broadcasting service.

Ku-Band tranmission is wearing the six main solid rings.
hi there, my friend says you need a 2.7metre it just depends on a few things ,lnb ,scaler rings etc .,i use the avcomm rings made by garry cratt of avcomm and i can notice better signals especially in weaker signals eg telecom 1 at 108east etc ,thanks hamguy2 nsw
Hi hamguy2,
Thank you for your info. That may explain the reasons why I could not get reception from Vianasat. My motorised dish is only 2.3m , and although I have no problems getting all channels (horizontal and vertical) from Asiasat2 to Intelsat2 I just couldn't get any signal registered in the signal strength/quality 'bars' even with the positioner being 'pulsed' very slowly between Asiasat4 and Apstar6!
Well, maybe I am not lucky enough to be able to watch some news/current affairs of my home country from afar
I can pick up vinasat in Melbourne with a 2.3mesh.
Just fine tune your lnb and dish.
Maybe consider a different lnb.
Hi,
I am a newbie to this. I have a box that used to pick up Thaicom 2 for VTV. The set top box died a year ago and I havent replaced it since.
Is there a way I can pick up Vinasat 1 with this equipment? I think I am on KU LNB. I might go buy a new box for it. Any recommendation?
Thanks
A friend of mine gets it on a 2.3 meter solid in Melbourne. Good signal running for well over a year
DM500s Black with rear on/off switch $99 inc post , DM800 sim 82 $250 inc post, DM800SE $310 inc
I do not need a positioner to get all the VTV channels right?
I assume I can get all the channels that has a F on that page.
What about the ones with DVB? Do I need a card and subscribe to it?
According to this, I assume I need C band to Access since coverage is not available for the KU band in Australia?
I'm pretty sure I got this sat the other night while getting the thing aligned. And that's on a 2.3 mesh on the vic/nsw border.
By the sounds of it you need a whole new setup from c-band dish to receiver. You don't need it motorised but I'd consider it as there are other things on other sats.
Cheers,
Leroy

I can confirm its avaliable on a 2.3m mesh down here in Mexico (Melbourne).
Should be no probs further up north, you may need to check your dish's tracking and/or fine tune your LNB should you have problems.
So I cannot change the LNB on the dish somehow from KU to C?
What kind of receiver do you recommend? Will the cheap $50 you see on ebay do the job?
You can change the LNB from Ku to C,provided you have a dish big enough to pick the signal.( a 2.3m. mesh)should not have problem for you picking the signal there,if we can pick up the signal here further down South.
And yes, a cheap $50 (cheap and nasty) boxes on Ebay should do the job.(plenty of these laying around!!!)
No idea unfotunately. I got it professionally installed by someone 5 years ago to pickup VTV4 on Thaicom 2. I think it is a 2.3m mesh but I could be wrong about the size.
I was about to buy this because according to ebay the guy lives near me.
Might go for the strong receiver if it does the job.
Anyone know where I can buy Satellite equipment in Melbourne tomorrow on the eastern suburbs?
Id go for a Strong receiver, they have a good low threshold which means if the signal is a little low they still keep pumping a picture.
Post a pic of your dish and its dia.
Here are the pics of my dish. It looks like a 2.3m dish.
I was about to pick up the DM500S tomorrow but a lot of people say it is hard to use. I got a quote from a local guy to come and change my LCNB to a C and adjust my dish for $110. Not sure if this sounds is ok.
He also has some receiver, he recommended this:
Strong 3663X with smart card slot, USB recorder option and component outlet $140
What you all think? I think the 3663x must be a typo as I can only find 4663x on the internet.
