    Default 123 password recovery

I've just been watching a vid that shows the recovery process for passwords that have been stored in things like broadband modems, routers etc.

They used a small utility called 123 Password Recovery by a company called "Iopus".

The idea of this is it shows you the password that's hidden behind the dots in the password fields of the modem/router setup page. Very useful when the client has forgotten their passwords, logins etc.

I've been to the Iopus website and there's no mention I can see of it.

I've goggled it and I've found several download sources, which all say that the file is supposed to be 170 kB - yet when I download it from any of these places all I get is a file that's 239 bytes in size. Double-clicking it opens a DOS window then nothing happens.

Anyone got a proper copy of this or know where to get one? I've tried various other password grabbers and they either won't show the pass (as they are trials only) or they don't work at all.

dude be careful and scan it, anything that opens a dos window and nothing happens sounds like a trojan to me....

i have seen and used various password recovery programs and the name rings a bell and members say its a valid app

Yeah, I'm aware of such things. However, it hasn't caused my AV to ring any alarm bells so I'm not sure what the story is.

Yep, that's the one - although it has been renamed, probably an upgraded version.

    Thanks Coalminer.
