Default About to connect to NBN or ADSL. What to choose?

I've had to use a mobile phone tethered for the last 2 years due to renting a house in non ADSL area.
On the weekend I moved into a house in a new estate at Cameron Park that has an NBN turret about 250m from my house.
When I Google my options I get mixed results. I can choose an NBN plan or get ADSL.
If I choose ADSL, does it run back to my local telephone exchange 5km away or the turret 250m?
If I choose NBN will I have slow connection problems I hear about?
I know you pay for your connection speeds but previously I only ever had a choice of ADSL, not both.
I know there are many factors that can come into effect to slow speeds but if you were in my situation, which would you choose?

If NBN is enabled in your area you can only get NBN, they won't allow a new ADSL connection.
There are some CVC issues in Cameron Park apparently but they'll get sorted out sooner or later.

I would suggest you ring the NBN direct, not use that useless 'Roll Out' list to find out what is being made available for your address.

I cant see why you would want ADSL ? If your exchange is 5 km's away, I doubt they would even do it (unless a Top hat is installed).

You really need to ring the NBN because its a possibility the Estate developer may have been required to lay in a certain type of communication cables as part of the development application for the estate.
