as long as it does not have protection on the disc yes easily.
if there is protection on the disc then the copy will need to be done
to suit .
once copied over then just use something like daemon tools that will install
virtual drives
My daughter has asked me for a game that she needs for a school project, i can get a pc version but would then need to transfer to her laptop that doesnt have a disc drive.
Not having done this for a game but could i make a disc image of the game then copy that to her laptop ?

An external USB optical drive costs about $35 ,that would do the trick!
Dash.
or you can copy the files off the disc to a usb
then run setup.exe
if it doesnt need the disk to run the game, cheering
if it does do as above, which game? theres lots of old no-cd patches around

like philquad said usb will work fine
To usb would be ideal, i wasnt sure if these game discs would allow it or not.
The game is " The Sims 3 " and is going onto a school laptop which is locked down pretty tight and only for a school project so not going to buy an external usb drive, i could buy the downloaded game but i'm trying to be a tightarse .
1: sims 3 requires the disc to load and play
2: if the lappy is locked down with the same software my kids was it wont play
3: you will have to use the external drive as i tried loading the virtual drive on the kids
and kept denying my every time.
dont say linux if i wanted it id install it

not really
once installed just swap the exe for 1 of these to match the version
(backup original exe 1st)

Decided not to go ahead for now, i didnt have the disc and she needed bu Friday so i told here to use another option - a free one !
you need to get a copy of something like POWERISO install it then it will give you an option of creating a virtual drive
copy the game to the virtual drive from a usb stick and then install it
if the game needs to have the cd of it it will find it on the virtual drive
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!
