    Default Motorcycle CDI?

Anyone got any experience with 1985 Suzuki ALT185 or LT185 cdi ingnition?. I have replaced coil and stator coils and the resistance of coils all are within specs. The output from the stator coil is 25 vac which is fair and within expectations just(below 20vac probably no go). Pretty sure the cdi unit is stuffed as no output to coil. Looking at a suitable replacement, possibly Jaycar cdi kit, or chinese one. Has any one tried these options? or any other alternatives

Ive played a bit with these on cars....

Make sure the crank angle sensor (or whatever the bike uses to pick up the position of the crank) is working, no signal, no spark.

If thats OK then the CDI unit is next in line......

thanks, new sensor coil within specs. Just ordered a cheap chinese unit and a jaycar cdi kit will give both a try.

Quick update, cdi unit was faulty and the jaycar motorcycle cdi kit worked a treat, a bargain for $25.

If it ended up being the stator , there are some mobs around who will rewind them , dont know the cost though.

Small coil rewinds in geelong seem to have a good rep.

I was quoted around $250 for a jet ski stator thet was for either hall effect sensors or charging coils not both.
