    Default Season interface/Data logger question

    Hi,
I have recently purchased a season interface/data logger card from ebay, the one with a smart card slot, and a rs-232 port, with no external power connections. I have inserted the season interface into my TV plus subscription receiver, and the irdeto subscription card into the season interfaces's smart card slot, but I keeps on saying "please insert smart card", and the green led just blinks once every second. With Fausto, under the season tab, it connects when I connect the interface to a pc using a serial cable, but keeps on giving me the same incorrect ATR.

When I take out the season interface, and just insert the smart card into the receiver, everything is ok.
I have also tried the season interface in a Strong 4930 receiver, and I just get "smart card initializing" all the time.
I have tried 2 different types of serial cables, and also a serial to usb cable as well.

Any ideas of what I am doing wrong?
Could it be that the season interface isn't getting enough power?
Or a connection issue, from the receiver's smart card terminals to the season interface terminals?

    Thanks.

Its just a cheap season interface.
The picture isn't that clear, but on the left side of the season interface where the smart card terminals are, there are 3 terminals on the top row, and 2 terminals on the bottom row.
Should I have bought an interface with 4 terminals on the top, and 4 terminals on the bottom? Or that doesn't matter?

you only need the terminals on the 'correct' side. What are you trying to do? I think you need to see if the interface is working. Find a program to log the card comms via the RS232 interface.

I think it needs external power.

They don't usually require external power.

If its working properly, once I insert the smart card into the interface, and then the interface into the satellite box, shouldn't it descramble the channel (show video and audio)?
