Default Altech DSD4121 RV colour problems

Hello, I have the above box and the screen colour is red/ green. In the past I have just gently jiggled the box and it has returned to normal colour.... but not now. Thinking lead ? Please help.

How do you have the box connected to your TV?

There are 3 options on the DSD4121, HDMI, Component & Composite.
HDMI is by far the best option if your TV supports the connection.

The symptoms you are having are usually experienced with a bad connection of Component cables, however it may also be possible with HDMI.

Suggest trying new cable or at least disconnecting & reconnecting the cables. Turn the unit off while playing with the cables.

    +1 with Tiny's comments.

The symptoms you described are common with a bad video connection in component.

This can be either in the cable or a faulty solder joint in the connectors in the box or TV, but in most cases, it's a cable fault.

Check the connections on the TV end of the cable as well as the box.

Agreed HDMI is the best connection method for picture quality, just make sure your TV has an HDMI input.

You say when this has happened before, all you have done is 'Jiggle' the box and its all back to normal suggests its either the plugs on the lead nearest the STB or the pins in the socket on the STB.
A component cable is as far as I am concerned just an 'Up Market' standard RCA type with different coloured plugs and is only as good as its made.
An old trick with these sort of leads is to either GENTLY turn them backwards and forwards or take them on and and off 3 or 4 times as they can tarnish over a period of times.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

Just like composite (R/W/Y) there are varying qualities of cable used, however, that's where the comparison ends.

Component provides far superior (HD) picture quality compared to (SD) composite.

Component can look equally as good as HDMI.
