Default It appears end is near for the unflashable 360 liteon

I am so glad to be able to say this because I really thought it was the end of the road for flashing 360s.

Over at xbox hacker it appears as though someone has successfully pulled the DVD key out of a liteon. I am not sure if the key has been verified or not yet but it does appear real.

At the very least it will soon be possible to at least transplant the key onto another drive such as a benQ or a sammy which are easy enough to get. Spose I better go buy some...lol

Ok its confirmed now, its comparatively more time consuming hence a lot more expensive, but possible now to put the key in another drive....spoofing will have to wait a bit so using on live is probably not advisable (well its not anyway!!)

Ordering some new sammys today for the people that can't wait for the liteon firmware to be released and become flashable (which will probably be a few months away). Give me a yell if you want a price estimate for new drive/liteone upgrade package, not tried it myself yet and I have to go buy some bits to interface to the liteon.

max3232.... the first one a long time, build the little 3232 board with a header then stuffing about with the drive status and stuff, u can get the warranty seal on the liteon off the same way as normal...second one was not too bad once u know exactly what to do, easier than a passkey on a 79 but u do have to open the drive.....and supply a new one, spoofed a sammy MS28

Nice one! i got my 360 in the mail this afternoon, as i suspected it has a liteon drive (benq/liteon tray, and i can see yellow wires through the front), how long do you think it will take for a firmware release for the liteon, if any? dont know if i should just wait.

    cheers

The firmware has not even been dumped yet, let alone modified..., no one knows how to program the liteon yet....so I expect it will be some months, and if you believe the patent never....that said I am still in disbelief that the key can be extracted

I am giving the liteons back to my customer....if they ever need to return the unit under warranty they will need the drive.
