    Default UEC acting weird

Our UEC is acting strange, picture freezes for a second but sound continues. This on Centrel 7 on IMP9 it is worse, picture either freezes sound continue or no picture at all a strange squealing noise. Signal shows BER (what ever that is) on 0 the jumping upto several 1000's and the settle back down.

Thought it was the Antenna, but redid all wiring connectors and no change. Swapped the UEC at other end of house with it shows none of the problems, Worked perfectly.

Any ideas ? Would this be a power supply problem?

Varying BER to that extent indicates signal dropout (for whatever reason).

You have two VAST boxes connected to two separate outlets in the house?

Have you tried the box with the issue on the other outlet?

would this be an older 4121 decoder ? if so then try a replacement for C10 on the PSU, also check & clean the card contacts.

Yes, same dish but dual lnb.

    No, will try later.
Had to disconnect power to it as it locked up with a Error "LNB overpowered" on screen and would not respond to the remote, what that means I have no idea.

Yes one of the first available. hmm? I don't think I have guts to try whatever your recommending. How difficult is it to swap the power supply on these, any idea? Would the error as mentioned above be the cause if this C10 problem?

    kits are available from here.
but not good value for money. They are easy to change just a few screws & single power plug. Weather it's worth it considering the decoders age is another thing.

Have now swapped the two UEC around. Where the problem one is now does not power the LNB, the Humax does. Problems now gone, So I would guess the power supply to the LNB is kaput or heading that way.

Will see how it goes. Thanks for help to those who responded.
