    Default gold wafers

    Hi All,
I've got a bunch of old goldies that don't work anymore and after reading the Tutes managed to re-write a couple.
My question is ,in all the tutes it mentions to be sure that CP is un-ticked if so should you inadvertedly have CP ticked when you program the card does it render it useless for future re-writes or erasing?
    what are the consequences?

    Dash.

Yeah Osci,I normally make sure the CP is un ticked but sometimes in the Icprog. Wizard it can tick it automatically and I wonder if this has any detrimental affect to the card later on when you try to erase it and reprogram?

correct you are dash...CP is a pesky little thing aint it, particularly when torching a goldie!
although, from memory, if burning a goldie, like the silver between each step you should be able to check or in your case uncheck CP, I'll burn the two colours again tonight and post back about the CP......

    Wink

dosnt matter if cp is ticked or not
it just means you cant read the card if its ticked
it will be ticked when you load the bin file if it has been saved that way
once the code protect fuse is blown on the chip it is always cp
try reading a card that has been protected all you will get is 00 00 00 ect
but you will get the eprom data which is where the keys are

I wasn't sure of that mick, for dash I just burnt another goldie, if your using icprog - as long as cp is off before you start it shouldn't come back on if using the smartcard wizard...

    G'day Osci,
got two cards that appear to be CP,if you "Read All' in Icprog. Erase All and re-program ,insert current details they don't update in the Box.
    I'll just keep plodding!

    Thanks

    G'day All,
One of the cards that did come back to life worked even with the wrong provider ID (xx xx 00) and with cleared PSK's updated OK ,after 2 hours of running in the box checked the card and the PrId had changed (xx xx 80) but still working OK. ????????

This is normal, as long as the HSN and HMK are correct when the card receives a 280D or 680D nano, which is an EMK update, then the correct Provider ID will also be written to the card.
    Cheers
