Sadly, given the price of Ozito gear, I'd turf it and buy a new one. It's Bunnings in house brand - not bad for the money, but unlikely to be worth repairing.

It is a gearbox issue. Make sure the mechanical switch is working correctly. It is fully going in to the chisel position.

Also check the gearbox lubrication. A known issue.

May not be relevant, but they all come with a 3yr replacement warranty. So I assume it's over 3years old.

I've had Ozito gear for yonks and it's been ok for general house work I've had no issues.
Only bought as for the price, if it goes for over 3 years, just buy another, otherwise if it fails within 3 I get a new one - and another 3 years

My one has been going for over 5 or 6 years now.
I bought it because I needed it for a job, charged the client, it was cheaper than renting a real one.
When it dies it would have earned its keep and more
