The new engine is the 1HDTFEII :P Ive nussing but I bet it will cost an even greater bomb.
Yes, its not released yet, nor is there even much word of it.
But i after speaking to a chap whom took the Toyota Engineers into the AU Outback for some R&D recently
He was saying the biggest whispers coming from the Engineers, was the return the 6 Cylinder Turbo Diesel in the 300 and 70 Series Landcruisers, along with the V8 TTD option in the 2018/19 models.
Coupled with a 6 Speed Manual (70 Series) and 9 Speed Auto (300 Series)
Its a while off yet, has anyone read or heard of the TD 6 Cylinder being revived?
It is a platform that has served Toyota so well over many years, it is almost a surprise it was dropped.

Hmmmm apparently the rumour mill is alive and well, with a Toyota Dealership Sales person telling a prospective customer to hold off, as the new 300 Series is almost here.
It's also rumoured the current V8 TTD will be discontinued, as it fails the new round of Euro Emission Rules.
Who knows hey....

Well toyota have upped the ugly stakes, cant stand any of their vehicles.
if they stick with the v8 diesel they really need another gear. they rev very high at 110kmh.
Thats not the only issue
A mate just took delivery of a 76 Series today, 4 door wagon, 5 speed manual, he just told me it sits on 3000rpm at 100k's, thats nuts for a V8 Diesel which makes its peak torque at 1600 rpm.
So apart from the first ones using oil, and the injectors.... Take a look at this
BTW, for a Vehicle that is meant to take you and the family in the deep outback (Dalhousie springs to Birdsville, French Line, Simpson Desert, etc)
Just look where the Starter Motor is, if it fails!!!
Not to mention the gasket kit you would need, just to access it...
What a job if it fails while out on a sand track.
There would be some swearing it were me
Plus the Alternators are low, under the motor, just ready to have a good drink
