Thumbs down Siemens security products no more.

For those who have not heard yet, Siemens security products (which used to be Alarmcom) is no more after Sept 30.
DSC appointed a new exclusive distributor - and as a result Siemens have pulled the plug on their products division. (Not to be confused with the installation side of things)
They will close their doors Sept 30.

Intek Security Group will be the new distributors.
They distribute DSC in New Zealand, and will now do so in Australia.
They have not yet started trading in Australia, but should start shortly.
Initially, it appears that their physical locations will be extremely limited.

Videoman (EOS), Lawrence & Hanson, NSS etc, all buy their DSC equipment from Siemens as resellers.

If the new mob does not re-sign these resellers, they will soon stop selling DSC.

If you buy DSC equipment from one of these resellers, you should find out if they have talked to the new company about signing up as resellers.

There is currently no real DSC in Australia to go back to.

If it were to be done in-house it would be through Tyco in Aust. (Who actually import the things) which also operate the ADT security installation business

Originally there was a DSC Security in Australia, which was privately owned.
They brought panels in from DSC Canada (also privately owned at that stage) and then resold them to various resellers.
Some time ago, Alarmcom purchased DSC Security, which gave them exclusive distribution in Australia.
Tyco then bought DSC Canada and continued supplying panels to Alarmcom.

    Alarmcom eventually became Siemens.
Siemens then started reselling these to other wholesalers, as well as selling them themselves.

Siemens and Tyco internationally are key rivals in many, many, many sectors (although GE is the largest rival to both of these - maker / owner of NX and Tecom).

Whether that was a cause of the problems is anybodies guess!

your on the dollar PHM, EOS just resells dsc from siemens, same as it used to the vision brand, but bosch got that

Tyco own adt, which owns DSC...

I wouldn't buy dsc just to support adt (tyco), only helps them grow....

Why don't you guys look at MCM aussie made, aussie owned, and 5 yr wty, bullet proof panel, and cheap....
Wheres the brains in this industry!

I cant understand the logic, you buy from sma, supports assa, multi national, and then bag CSD which is I.R??? WTF

won $1500 on the pokies tonight at the kuntry club woohooo that was off $120 hahahahahahaha

When it comes to multi-nationals things can get quite confusing and rather strange!

In Europe, Bosch and Siemens are partners (they supply each other under OEM type agreements). Bosch products get badged Siemens, and vice versa.

In Australia Siemens (Alarmcom) was distributing Digiflex, and then lost that to Bosch. (clearly competitors)

Tyco owns DSC, which sold products through Siemens (a competitior) rather than doing it themselves.

At one stage ADT (which is owned by Tyco) was using Honeywell panels (another multinational competitor) rather than DSC (their own panel!)

A couple of years ago Siemens in Australia decided to continue selling DSC (remember this is owned by a competitor) rather than their own panel which was showed at ASIAL. (i.e rather sell a competitiors panel, which the competitor themselves would not use)

Siemens installation side uses PACOM and Bosch equipment rather than Siemens equipment for CCTV.

ADT uses various equipment (including Siemens, PACOM and others) for their own work, more than American Dynamics (which Tyco owns).

Some of the DVRs (PDR range) that DAS sell are also manufactured for Siemens (Sistore).

Schneider Electric own Pelco, which is distributed by DAS (+ others). ADT and Siemens installations use Pelco equipment (Schneider Electric is a competitor to Tyco, GE, Siemens)

GE make the NX panel which they do not sell themselves, but push it through DAS. They also sell some equipment through Siemens (one of GE's biggest competitors)

GE distribute their own DVR range in Australia some of which appear to be OEM versions of the Hikvision DVR (I think so but are not 100% sure)

Chubb then have their own DVR which is an OEM version of the Hikvision DVR. They also use the Dedicated Micros DVR.

The Dedicated Micros DVR is sold by Anixter, Siemens and ADI (Honeywell) in Australia.

Intek in New Zealand ( the new DSC distributor) use the Honeywell CCTV range.

Anixter distribute the Axis IP cameras. Axis is a techology partner of Genetec. Genetec produce the Omnicast software. The Omnicast software is OEMed to DVtel as the Lattitude software. PACOM sell the DVtel equipment including the Lattitude software. Pacom competes with Anixter. Anixter sells the Verint equipment. Verint has the same software sold under another name as the Omnicast / Lattitude.

I could go on for ever.

    Can anybody say "Incest"???????

I wouldn't say Inbred, or incest as much as Id say INDUSTRY WHORES,

We all knew meinrad would sell to Bosch again,
how many times has this salesman changed companies, or that manager been with this company then that one, blah blah.... Goes on and on.

There are alot of techs out there also doing the same, jump form pillar to post,

also you wouldnt believe the amount of theives and crooks in the game,
lying, stealing and cheating, even fraudsters. I know a coupla guys who used to have bank accounts in their franchisors name and bank their cheques..

It just amazes me, luckily the line sales have dropped, the amount of shonkies out there that came out of the woodwork just amazes one.

well I'm off to do a hard days work, laters

I used to use a fair bit of MCM but the shortcomings just got too much. 1) Loosing codes
    2) Not dynamic battery test
    3) Limited O/P options

Now I haven't used any for about 2yrs but I don"t think anything has changed

MCM need to make some wireless interface..maybe grab invovonics and have a bus for it, its the year 2008.. we should not be using relays to inputs e.t.c

Apart from that they are bloody rock solid panels, love them.
Easy for the end user too, also easy for a CMS to monitor

Anyone know of ANY CMS that can PROPERLY monitor a C3/4 K?

No one has the right zone accounts and bloody innerrange dont have them, they should !

Exclamation Intek Secuiry Group Opens Oct 1st

    Hi All,

We noticed your comments and feedback regarding Siemens discontinuing the distribution of DSC in Australia.

We would like to introduce ourselves, Intek have been distributing the DSC brand along with Optex Detection, Honeywell and Pelco Video and Genesis Access Control for over 10 years in New Zealand. We are the largest distributor in NZ and are looking to bring the excellent customer service we offer to Australia. You will notice distinct differences between how we do business and many of the existing distributors in Australia.

We would also like to point at that as of October 1st, its bussiness as usual, all existing resellers will stay in place until a review has taken place. Tech support is available now and all product warranties will be honoured by Intek.

We also wish to clarify that we have not taken the distribution away from Siemens. Due to senior managment decisions within the Siemens Group they decided to discontinue distribution from Oct 1st of all alarm products. Due to Inteks strong performance with the Brand in NZ and following presentations to DSC we were awarded exclusive distribution in Australia.

We look forward to doing business with all existing security companies and demonstrating the strength of Intek and the DSC Brand. for more information please visit
