Default Openbox X6/Freenet X6 HD PVR

    G’ Day All,
A friend bought an Openbox X6 on Ebay, but the Model name on the installation menu is the following:
    FREENET X6 HD PVR
Boot Ver HD DVB-S2-B Ver 1.0
    S/W Ver 1.00.26 Jan 20 2013
    H/V Ver 1.00.1 Jan 10 2013
We could not see any card initialization, on the tools menu and card information the box comes with “NO CARD”, we tried 6688 code given by the seller without any luck.
If you have a similar box or any ideas, we will appreciate your help
    Cheers
    M

All the information you need is available from the YoJia website at .

Go to the Related Downloads section and the upgrade instructions can be found in file list, i.e. How to upgrade Openbox X6 via USB driver.

RS232 is not used for a simple upgrade.

All that aside, I'll describe the basic procedure which I use, below.

Obtain an USB stick (Sandisk Cruzer etc.). If it isn't already formatted to FAT32, format it to FAT32 using your computer.

Download the update which carjackma has kindly supplied a link to (or the upgrade file on the YoJia site mentioned above).

Unpack the downloaded archive using WinRAR or similar utility.

Copy the unarchived file, V1256_CD601_GRIPTV_VOD_OPENBOX_X6_PLUS_VFDE_SK.bin , to the USB stick via your computer.

Place the USB stick in the USB port located on the rear of the Openbox X6 receiver. (We are going to use the receiver's USB/Card Upgrade facility).

Now, you should backup your existing firmware and channel list settings by entering the receiver's menu using the remote control unit - Menu > Setting > Upgrade > choose the location /udska1 > Enter Backup > Channel List Backup > OK. A message will appear on your TV - Save Successful.

Now repeat the procedure to backup the existing firmware and channel settings - ALL Backup > OK. An on-screen message will appear, Data Saving ... Save successful.

Press the EXIT key on the RCU so that you return to the Upgrade menu.

Choose USB Upgrade, then the location /udska1 > Enter > down arrow on RCU in order to highlight the upgrade file, V1256_CD601 ........... > OK.

WAIT for the upgrade to go through its various stages - DO NOT interrupt it.

When finished, the receiver will reboot using the new firmware.

Reload your previous channels from the ChannelList.bin file on the USB stick (you saved them in an earlier step).

    All done.
