My brother is in the market for a cheap TV box - will this allow him to plug an external HDD with rips in mkv mp4 etc. into the unit and provide playback (from external hdd)?
eg Videos / Browse to hdd / Select file / Play? Nice to see this unit supports .h265

Just received the box and start testing it. So far so good.
I have 1 problem straight away though. Couldn't setup Ethernet to static mode. Doesn't let me to save the settings for some reason.
Is it something I am missing?
In DHCP works Ok, just like controlling IP addresses at home.
Its pretty good box, works well.
I don't record so not sure.
As for Foxtel Go, Presto, Fetch TV etc. Those apps don't work.
These apps are meant for phone devices and not for big screen viewing.
It comes up with message saying not for jail broken device.
Anyway, now waiting for delivery of

V88 is useless now because I used wrong power adaptor 12v instead
of the provided 5v. R.I.P.

It's a great unit plays everything I want however it has a Netflix lip-sync issue I've been unable to resolve.

Try changing the resolution down (or up) one setting at a time until (hopefully) it is in sync, read this tip some where else

Tried all resolutions some where better than others, not to worried about it still use the apple tv for HD Netflix. Kodi works perfectly whixh is all that matters.
