Default NX-12 : Programming phone numbers

    folks,
ive just cancelled my alarm monitoring and im trying to set my nx-12 to dial 2 mobile numbers when the alarm is triggered however I am having the following issues.
Im basically following the steps as per the manual :

    1/ *
2/ 41 - for location of phone number
3/ 1234 - master code ( now the query i have is, is the master code the same as the user code ? ie. the code i use to disarm ?, i did test my user code to conduct a walk test but im not sure if this proves that my user code is actually the same as the master code. ) I also get 3 quick beeps when i enter my user code during this step.
    4/ enter mobile number
    5/ #

when i try to view the number it doesnt show me anything so im guessing ive done something wrong.

ive noticed the manual says that setting phone numbers can only done when a pager or siren tone formats are selected - however, im not sure how to do this.

    thanks in advance.

for a start if the system is set up to dial a monitoring station then going into that option wont do anything. Also the master code you are using is incorrect if it beeps at you three times.

    thanks for that.
so, is there a process where i can disable the system from dialling a monitoring station or will this be done by the security firm as part of the cancellation process ?
Also, looks as if i need to contact the original installer and get the master code.

Yes. The process is it needs to be reprogrammed.
I doubt very much your ex security company or any company for that matter would reprogramm your system for nothing. You will need to get a technician in to reprogram it for you as there are a few changes required which if not done properley will end up costing you more $$$ than a service call.
Call any local tech to reprogram your system you do not have to use your old company.

As a technician I change most programming for NX panels with a lap top without gaining access to the main panel but some installers may prevent other installers to do so however they legally have no right to do so as you as the owner of the sytem can only approve the change in writing when any one accesses your alarm remotely.

It does require some mayor changes from commercial monitoring to domestic monitoring to prevent what can result in a high cost of unessesary phone calls and defeat the normal price of monitoring and keep you awake all hours of the night with the calls normally programmed for monitored systems

    Good Luck

just spoke to the original installer. i asked him to give me the master code which he said he would, however, he pretty much reaffirmed what you all have been saying in that some major reprogramming is required to change from dialling out to the monitoring site to mobile phones. he has offered to come on monday to reprogram free of charge

Nah, power cycle the system and press 971300# within seconds of the power cycle and it will default your system,
Make sure you get the guy to reset his installer code back to factory or something and write it in the panel, make sure you disable remote access as the NX panels aren't every secure out of the box... 19000000 is all you need to know

There aren't many techs that dot the i's and cross the t's when programming systems...shit s me to tears.

There aren't many guys around that know anything other then one panel, their brain have the capacity for it...
We call them installers, they can't be paid as much as a tech, cause their bean of a brain wont know how to calculate the change...

    eh eh eh

generally speaking nothing wrong with the service. it was costing me around $22 per month. however, as we all know, cost of living is going up, and just trying to trim the cost of things here and there...

Does the panel call two different mobiles ?

I didn't think this was possible with the Nx or is the second mobile the back up.

2nd and 3rd numbers are backup which is all well and good until you realise that phone 1 has voicemail and the alarm plays its' siren tone as a message to your voice mail.
