Is anyone able to comment on the Next YE 2000 from China. Visually it is an exact copy of the SF918, with identical specs. On some o/seas sites I have seen it described as 'the same as the SF918'. It is considerably cheaper, selling for around $350 plus freight, from the likes of Sat-Europa. Unfortunately they won't ship to Oz.

Does anyone know if the Next is a rebadged Octagon? Someone with an Octagon might be able to confirm that they are of German origin but made in China. If so, I think it would be worth buying one to see what it can do. It might turn out to be a brick that won't accept Octagon firmware updates. On the other foot, it's unlikely that the Chnese factory would be turning out two versions I suspect.

err, octagons are made in korea........

maybe designed by a german, but that's the extent of it...

they are very well made, with the best picture quality of any sat box, bar none.....

if the chinese clones are as good, then they are good value..

Is that a Satronics discount for Austech members? as their internet price is $565.

My Octagon SF 918 HD is switching very slow between channels from share. About 5-10 sec and more. Server speed is good - ping about 43 ms.

I haven't tried but add .ts extension to the file and it should play.

Noticed the same thing with CCcam.
    Newcamd seems to be OK.

It looks like we still need to wait for an improved firmware, well my 2 cents worth anyway

It's a bog standard transport stream file with the video stream encoded with mpeg2.
If you're OS doesn't include an mpeg2 codec then install k-lite codec pack, and use Media Player Classic to view.
Use VideoRedo to trim and edit without loss to a program stream mpeg file.

This seems like a pretty good deal for an Octagon SF918 clone:

Has anyone used the azboz? i'm torn between the azbox and the 918. I'm leaning towards the azbox because it can act as a server. As long as the fruit card works ok with it.
