Default NEW Vu- Ultimo 4K Sat Box

As some Sat box's are getting cheaper per the day and they preforming marvelous tricks I cant believe the prices of the NEW Vu Ultimo 4k Satellite boxes.
Just a typical VU+ Ultimo 4K 2x DVB-S2 FBC Twin / 1x DVB-C/T2 Dual Tuner 1 TB HDD Linux Receiver UHD 2160p will set you back 729 Euro's and in my brain that over a thousands Bucks + the freight.

What do the member hear think about this. The Vu Duo 2 was expensive enough but this.

Toyota Landcruiser's are priced beyond belief
But they are bullet proof (well, maybe not the 200 series), people continue to buy them because they don't give trouble and are class leaders.

I think the Vu+ products are the same

But i agree, pull the back off one and you wonder where all the money went.

Yeah like the Dreambox DM8000 in its glory days was close to $2k fully optioned out, but people still brought them because they were like the land cruisers of Sat Gear. ( as long as it wasn't a clone version) I still have a couple that are in day to day use. Some people just wanted them irrespective of price.

But like anything new, if you can wait 6 months the price drops.

Dreambox have a DM920 that does UHD but given the issues I've had with a DM520HD I would be wary of getting one at this point. Image development is not up to speed as yet and also can not handle Aust version of AAC audio.

Geez, i didn't even know Dreambox were still in business.

To think they had the whole market in their hands, then the near 2 year delay with the DM8000 and all the BS stories surrounding it.

I wonder how long before the Chinese make clone of them. I would never buy a Clone and if I do get the Original on day I only will do if the Aftermarket images are out. Actually As it still stand I haven't done any research on any Images and if any are available yet.

So i guess you are talking about this:

When you look at the CPU speed and Flash Memory, its a big step up
Sad that the PSU is no longer in the box though.

They seem a lot of stuff today getting rid of the Powers supply and putting it external.

YES!! That the one released now. It have a fully function 100MM Display. Not like the 70mm Duo2 one.

Question!! I know what DVB S2. I know what DVB C/T2 is for our terrestrial TV but what is DVB-S2 FBC either single or twin.

I have not been officially dealing with them for over 2 years now, they moved there distribution hub to China and only do design and admin from Germany. Most of the staff I knew have now left.
Looks like they are selling online via Amazon Germany, been spitting out new receivers at a fast pace lately.

They restructured their pricing so a lot cheaper then previous.

It's only taken them 5 years to realise what they were doing wrong.

Only issue I am seeing is that the latest OL2 versions used in the DM7080 DM520HD etc have issues with Softcam such as OSCAM etc, but this may be resolved as developers get a grip of the new engine.

Don't except to see clones of them in the immediate future they as in Dream have refined the security process, but never say never.

I think I will just wait to there is more UHD material out there before I buy a new receiver, but in saying that, I've seen Netflix running UHD on an appropriate LG UHD tv and it looks sh@t hot even with my bad eyesight.

    .
    YEP!!!!!

Ah good on you cmoore, you seem on the pulse regarding Dreambox.
Im not at all surprised the company had a huge bail out of staff.

As that is what it seemed like from the outside looking in.
