wii clip - experience...
hi all,
have just come across these wii clips... what are peoples thoughts on them? are they easy to use? how hard is it to line the pins up? how about taking them off?
cheers,

the first gen ones with flex only were hit and miss

i might hafta give em a go then.... they easy to get off? ever have any issues with pins not lining up or contacting?
every so often you will have problems
i never liked using clips and probably never will ,as far as I am concerned hard wiring is the only way to go
BUT the clips have come a long way since the xbox/ps2/psx clips and stuff , so they are a lot better quality
as usual there may be some issues with fitting due to tiny tolerances , a difference of under 1/100 of mm will make it a problem
but that said all in all they are a pretty good option
i just prefer to hard wire the things
I agree with OZ....its only 9 wires FFS.I could understand if its a 30 wire instal.
They are a pretty snug fit but have seen people brick their Wii which IMO is 1 too many. The differnece in price(between getting the clip & installing yourself or just getting it wired by a installer) would be no more than $40....no brainer really

The clips work really well. I would have installed about 30 of them, plus about another 30 chips on their own. I'd recommend them to people whose Wiis are still under warranty. The best thing about them is that they can be easily removed without leaving a trace of ever having been installed.
With some chip/wii models there is still a wire to be soldered, but it's easy enough to remove that wire without leaving any extra solder behind. It's pretty much impossible to remove the wires from the legs of the chip in the Wii without it being obvious that it's been tampered with.
Obviously they are a great option if you are not extremely confident with your soldering skills too, or do not have a good quality temp controlled soldering iron with a fine tip.
