    Default IS 18 C band AFN News currently FTA

    For those of you interested AFN News is currently FTA on 4174. Yep you will see how poor the image quality is on this service - appalling !

    Yes I spotted it yesterday. APPALLING is not the Word. I've never Ever seen Anything that bad before.

    3 channels MPEG-2 at 3680 Bd works out to about 1.3 MHz per channel. For good quality pics 2.5 to 3MHz is needed. The other 3753 R TP at 28000 Bd has the better pics, receivable in the Northern Hemisphere ...

    Saw a promo on AFN Pacific today, which is currently FTA, about AFN going HD ! Should happen this year according to this :

    .

    Well the image should be greatly improved after this catch up.

    yes unfortunately when this happens and if its H264 using 8psk you will need to get a BIGGER dish

    Bellesdad hi, 1.8 M solid or 2.3 M mesh. As IS18 & NSS9 are circular pol, suggest you insert a biscuit into the throat of the LNB to improve sig /qual. Read up on LNB's and circular pol.

    I also note that some enthusiasts are converting old 'ipstar' dishes (off set) with conical LNB to receive IS18.
