Hope this helps. Where in Sydney are you?
Hi guys & gals,
I am in Sydney and mainly do KU band install stuff, rarely C band. I have a customer who has moved into a house with an existing, older C Band dish and they wanted to see if they could get any free Chinese TV channels. As such do you have a suggested decoder I should be looking for and maybe pricing and any other specific satellite info I need to know. Cheers, Darren.

Chinasat 6b is the most popular.
There's still a lot of MPEG2 channels on it.
Any MPEG4 box will be suitable.

Thanks Gulliver. Am in Hornsby. Also, I do get asked from time to time from customers of various ethnic backgrounds what free channels they may get of their chosen language, (KU or C band). Is there a brief 'go to ' list that exists or gets updated without trawling through Lyngsat to associated a given language with a particular satellite?, then.... free channels versus paid? (I am probably asked a bit....). Cheers.
Most common ones are chinese,no cantonese,Arabic, greek and italian and Croatian( Yugoslav ) of course .
I used to do a lot of installs in the good old days, lol.

For Chinese FTA channels there're 4 C band satellites
, C13H and C7H Independent Phoenix and private broadcasters MPEG4 HD receiver needed
, C3V Macau max MPEG4 receiver needed
, Chinese government state own broadcasters from each province. Some channels require AVS+ HD receives
, State own broadcasters from each province. Require AVS+ HD receives.
Non FTA HD channels can be accessed if you can get a c line from china.
