Funny thing is so did I
Even though I shave my head, I am pretty sure there are parts of it that I dont have to shave as much these days.
The internet was a scary place in 1997, it reminds me a bit of a bar scene in a Clint Eastwood western. For some reason every villain that shot at me missed or I only got a flesh wound.
Edit : Wow, just looked at the poll, it looks like 20 years is the choice. I better call a party planner
Something in the back of my mind suggests that I was aware of CDCOPYWORLD back last century, however, I certainly had no connection with this place until recently
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...
Very interesting read guys. Congrats on 20 yrs. I have potted along, trolling on Austech over the years, dabbling in different topics, having a good laugh starting back around 2004. Before that I recall my days using dial up and cdcopyworld. It was so cool and very helpful in that era.
I know I'm relatively new around these parts, but HAPPY 20TH BIRTHDAY, and may there be many more.
geez ... cannot get over its been going that long.
Been that long? Happy 20th Birthday.
20 years is a long time and should be celebrated with gusto!
Newbie here but on the occassion of the day happy 20th and many more .
Happy 20th birthday to Austech, seems it just yesterday but twenty years
Totally forgotten about CDCOPYWORLD, and i often mention this forum to friends from back in the day where as a teen i saved for what seemed for ever to buy a $1600 humax box 5410, lol no country code,
i still come back here from time to time just to reminisce the old days and see whats new...
Congratulations on the 20years.
Thanks for the time spent browsing this forum.
Cheers

Well I voted for 20 years and I think that CD copyworld needs a mention
I would also like to catch up with a few old friends from here that I have lost touch with like mrAl and I havent talked with Mango for a while. Kostaki is currently overseas and Nim0 now lives in Melbourne should anyone be interested

Still got My Humax 5400 sitting in the origional box put away. dont think it will ever be required again apart from a door stop., Replaced the caps several times up to I changed the values on the caps and never had another issue with mine or the others I repaired back then.
Congrats Austech.. Been here a long time.. dont remeber how long but ive been in this house 17 tears and it was around about then..
I was thinking that 20 years is surely worthy of a mass mail to all members and a giveaway of some sort.
If we could get at least half a dozen items to give away it would be good. So if you own, operate, manage a company/business etc that can donate an item ( preferably a technology item ), please let me know. As well as the warm fuzzy feeling of doing something nice, your business/company will get a plug in the email to ALL members....I dunno how many tens of thousands emails that is.
Failing that, (and being realistic) if any members are doing ok and have a little spare cash and are prepared to donate a little, I could pool the money and buy a really good prizer.....hell we could even have a vote on what it is before hand.
Comments ? Suggestions ? Wallets ? Thoughts ? And just as a curiosity, does anyone know of any Australian forums that have been going since before 1997 ?

Happy Birthday Austech !
I think it would be a great idea to celebrate with a pool give away prizes, ask for donations, or even run something like a birthday sweep.
If we can get as many prizes on the table as possible it will make it more exciting ... allow also for a "prize throw back in" if a member wins and wishes to do that as well
How can we register donations, money or otherwise??

20 years gets my vote.
Congrats on such a successful forum.
I joined to research info before the goldie and Optus B3 era.
Now that's been and gone, I keep coming back to offer and read info on anything to do with communications.
Not a bad effort, and unfortunately I'm going to assume the numbers have dropped off since it's early days... I also was a member of CDCopyWorld (right nears its ending) - pretty sure I've still got print out - and probably the firmware of my first plea for the PIC12F508 firmware to allow copied playstation games. If my memory serves me correctly - it had The Prodigies "Firestarter" as the theme when you first visited??
I was actually thinking the other day about the information that is within this forum, and more so what happens to it when the day comes to close down?
