    Default House Alarm. Question?

    Hi All,

When we moved into this house it came with one of those sensor semi-portable but fixed into position alarms, it has the alarm box mounted under the gutter @ front of house, I have never bothered with it.

The previous owners left a bunch of keys for various things, doors, windows, shed, but having briefly looked at it today I was unable to find the required key for alarm

It is a FAI security guard sensor so my question is

can I get another key for this or should it be thrown out, the key looks like your basic insert into hole and turn kind of variety (yeah i sure know my key terminology) and am wondering what my options are.

also I will be needing the power pack/adapter as well??

If so, do you just go to locksmith with model details? or do you need to contact manufacturer?

I have never been into alarms and know less than zero about them so any experts might be able point in the right direction

Is the key in the "on" position ?
If so, you may be able to get away with just a new battery in the main unit and a replacement charger, you also require remote controls to operate the unit.

Best bet, call chubb home security 131598 and get a quote over the phone

    Cheers

AND be prepared to have a new rectrum torn if you call them !

Best to call Ness security (they make these units) to get all the bits, get the guy at the pub to come round half tanked and mess with it, totally feck it and then smash it with a hammer, for a couple hundred more then what the company he mentioned above will charge you can get a Decent, reliable commercial grade system, that meets or exceeds Australian Standards

if your serious about security, if not then just go back to staring at the key turny hole thingy a bit longer....

If your hard up I can get mess gear and send you, talk you through programming over the fone, all prepaid of course....

Throw it out and install a REAL alarm system if you desire the need for one, or to get a locksmith, call out plus re-key it'll worth more than that panel IMHO.

The good ol' FAI car, I mean, house alarm. All thats missing is two blinkers either side of your house to flash once when off and twice when on, maybe even central locking on your front door.

Keep the Dog throw away the FAI.
The Dog will do a better job than the FAI alarm.

Their is no madness spending money on decent security system.
Spending money on your system is definatley total madness. It needs to become landfill.

Thats because the tool! posted wholesale prices on a public forum !

Who would support C. hub.b when they are ripping people off blind, the best thing they did was buy the fai license, but they let it lapse, means they loose we win, I rip those cricket bats off the wall and install systems with real wires and actually detect people, and not go to sleep....

All Wireless systems have the inbuilt sleep mode, its a standard to help increase battery life, i don't see the issue with "sleep" modes in general.
A "single" signal is all that is required to alert the CMS of an alarm activation

Anyhoo, yeah the cricket bats are kinda crap..

Thats right the pirs go to sleep to save battery,

I have seen the pirs go to sleep and NOT work at all, its a common fault with them...

Prolly not the best to rely on PIRS in this climate in a tin shed, or single element pirs with gecko's, or windows open, small drafts etc etc.... But some people dont sell security they just sell alarms for profit, there's a difference, its called integrity and honesty, but that's life.
