Default iphone 3g tethering - slirp / pppd

    hey all,

has anyone here managed to get this thing to work? I have seen plenty of success stories using the first generation iphone but not the second coming. proxy tethering works fine for me, but not slirp.

I have a jailbroken iphone, the ssh key auth going fine, I have the slirp binary compiled for the 3g model (downloaded via cydia) but pppd fails to assign an address on the macbook end. I can go into a lot more details and post configs etc if anyone would like to look.

This would be so useful for me when I travel for work.

    Cheers,
    M

could you please describe how you got it to work? posting your ppp script and .slirprc file if possible..

It refuses to work for me. Looking at debug and system logs I get a mDNSresponder error saying that it can't make a TCP link connection followed by pppd giving a timeout. I can ping the phone on the PPP link, but nothing else. I've played around with ppp and slirp for hours, but I don't know enough about what the problem is to proceed.
    thanks

    nothing eh?

I haven't found any report of someone actually getting this to fully work.

I noticed that this ver. of slirp reports that it can't determine the host address on startup (not sure if it did that before), so I use the host addr command to set it to the wifi IP. I also tried redirecting the udp listen port by using redir udp 22555 10.0.2.15:22555. but is that the right port?
