These are a beautiful unit, wish I had the spare coin to buy it, but my trusty old 245xlt still serves me well

Yes, they really are a great unit.

If it's any condolence, the other one I have for sale UBCD396XT is cheaper and almost just as good, and in some ways, depending on your flavour, is a far better scanner.

For my interests, the main differences between the two are narrowed down to:

The 396 allows for the search of unknown trunking Control Channels (Motorola/LTR) within your set search range - the 436 does not but does have Discovery mode.
The 396 does have better sensitivity for reception on UHF band (300-800MHz) using the stock standard antennas than the 436.
The 396 has a smaller screen and can take up to 16 characters only for channel/TGID naming; the 436 allows for plenty more characters and has a larger screen.
The 396 is smaller and fits snug into jacket pockets easier.

With upgraded firmware on the 436-PT, both Australian models have the same frequency steps and ranges.
Both Australian models receive P25 Phase 1 trunking (FDMA), P25 One Frequency, Motorola, EDACS, LTR and Conventional Analogue modes; 436-PT also receives P25 Phase 2 trunk (TDMA).
Re: P25 Phase 2 - correct me if wrong, but QLD's GWN network may be the only one in OZ

436 allows you to record audio on the internal micro sd card.
436 is not limited to the quantity of TGID's whereas the 396 is limited to 500 only per system (ways around that where you create 2 or more systems and use the same quick key for the systems).

436 may, and that is one millions "may's", may receive an option for DMR and ProVoice upgrades in the remote distant future; but lets not hold our breath with Uniden looking after us Aussies. USA are set with their 436-HP models, but we are still waiting with no indication for our 436-PT models.
