I am very hesitant to deal with that company
(No real reason, only thier prices are always cheaper than the original company or Ali Express or GearBest or GeekBuy, to the point it makes me wonder)
I'd buy a Huawei P9 Pro, but the hit and miss camera reviews concern me
But agreed, it is certainly a flagship phone

The only Tip this handset needs, is how to make the Camera work better!
The hardware is capable, the software is not.

Seeing this phone does not come or have a user manual many thanks to WEBCAZINE for their handy list of tips and tricks for the Note 4

I found and used few handy things in it.

No problems found so far with the camera in mine. Works fine IMO.

    A few more here...

Don't think I've ever read a user manual for a phone before.
    Especially not an Android phone.

Camera is this phones much discussed weakness.
Every single YT review mentions it.
Every single write up mentions it.
Even the top of the range Mi6 isn't as good as it could be.
The Redmi Note 4 can not take photos to the quality a 2 year old Samsung Note 5 or S6 can.
    Not even close.

    Buy Cheap, Get Cheap....
Its a low to mid range device with better than average battery life and reasobable screen from all reports.

I will have one in a few days.
So ill give my personal view then.

    Looking forward to your reports.

Off Topic but important: Need to access an important photo on my HTC M8 but have forgotten the swipe pattern. Running out of time and having a bad internet connection at the moment is driving me crazy. Still waiting for NBN now 3 months and neighbours connection is flacky today.

I have here a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro Special Edition (Kate) - Part 1 - Android phones which we had gotten for the Mother in law. worked great but she reset it and ended up getting her a S7. I used it for a few weeks and it worked Flawlessly Fantastic phone for the price range... Might even keep it as a backup..

People on another forum are saying there is no problem and as mentioned above only 28 band is not supported and that is not a big deal unless living way off the beaten track.

Mine picks up 4G from Vodaphone (TPG) not problem and Telstra should be likewise.

I would although err on the side of caution in buying this model off eBay.

I used GearBest and no complaints. Free postage although it only took 11 days to arrive but did have to wait 6 days before they shipped.

    32GB 3GB RAM...

    64GB 3GB RAM...

I can warn all, NEVER to purchase from "Ali Express - Xiaomi Online Store"

    1. Xiaomi do not sell on Ali Express at all, only re-sellers
    2. They are crooks, you will be asked for more money for postage, then the product will not arrive.

I have a oneplus 3T which does not have band 28 and I live in Country Vic.
    Never had a problem.
Have had the odd issue of a call going straight to message bank with no ring - I'm With Aldimobile ( Telstra Network ) but otherwise no issues at all. the redmi note 3 Above I mentioned has band 28...

Not a lot here just yet but may offer chances to ask questions...

Newbie Forum/FAQ (Beta) for tag "redmi-note-4"
Newbie Forum/FAQ is a great resource for new Android users to find answers to questions they have about their Android devices. No question is too small or too “newbie" to answer.

Note: Users do not need to register an account before submitting and answering questions. Please do not spam (irrelevant or advertising post). Any post considered spam will be removed.

PS: I returned from a trip to Aldi yesterday to find my Note 4 missing. A return to Aldi no sign of it. Emailed mate to ring it, nothing!

He turned up a couple of hours later and tried again standing by the front door and again nothing. He then said to toss him my keys to try inside my car. I almost said not to bother as seeing the locked car was only 2 metres away we would have heard it.

I have never enjoyed being so wrong. It was found between the drivers seat and the centre console. Had looked on the other side of the seat and under it as it was in my left jacket pocket.

Anyway the point of this rant was to say if it had not been found within 24 hours I would have bought another the same except 64GB over 32GB as so far it has been a great device and not missing my HTC M8 at all.

Default Unboxing and Initial Set Up

Got a Redmi Note 4 yesterday.
    (Snapdragon version)

    Unboxing

Delivery was long and real hassle in my case.
Retail Box is well sealed, simple, small and clean
Contents is all you need, Phone, Charger, USB lead, and some notes

Phone was rather heavy in the hand, which i was hoping for, but after holding it for a few hours, does get heavy.
The curved edges make it very slippery in view, slipped out of my hand plenty of times.

The included Glass Screen protector doesn't fit correctly and will not seal down on the curved 2.5 screen egde
I purchased 2 leather style covers with soft edges to hold the phone itself. Much better in a cover.

    First Use and Set up

Introduction and set up process was a bit fiddly and long winded.
First thing you will notice is there in NO Australia Region when setting up the phone
(I know the phone is not meant for sale in AU, but for a Global Version, you'd think they would have Australia in the list)
I choose Singapore, then had to go in and adjust timezones, and time settings.

Google integration was easy, everything came over fast
The Screen, Snappiness and Batter Life make it real treat to use
The simple MIUI layout was also pleasing for me, no bloatware (booking.com was the only thing i found)
Great screen feel, fast page flicking and app launching, everything is easy to control.
GPS location and Mapping was also super fast and accurate

Sound from the 1 mono speaker is average, its ok, but it is a let down.
Using headphones it is better, but once again, the poor audio circuity is obvious.
In fact, if you are a person that likes your Music, this is not the phone for you.
I used it for some tunes while doing the lawns, and it was below average to horrible.
My old Samsung S3 utterly flogs it for Music. Sad considering the S3 would be a 2012 model phone.

Camera was ok, as per other reviews
I took some macro pics this morning of dust on my remote control, they came out ok.
    No idea on Video yet.

Initial thoughts, well worth the money
I haven't tried the 3G/4G reception yet or voice call performance.

Next move will be to load Android 7.0 Nougat and update to latest MIUI.
(although i have no reason too, very happy with how everything works so far)

These would make a good phone if you like to tinker and try new ROM's, they are cheap enough you don't care and there is a massive support base and plenty of ROM's to try.

Thanks sail for starting a thread on them
If the phone provides good fringe reception i'll be more than happy
(Can not test that where i am now, but next drive i'll test it against the known poor reception and black spots where i regularly drive)

Redmi Note 4 test photo, taken indoors with no lights on, standard settings, using default camera app.

I guess the money saved on No Advertising or Promotion
    No OEM Screen Protection
Average Camera (is it Hardware or Software that lets this down?)
Middle of the road CPU (Yet this is why the Battery lasts so long and Phone never heats up)

Is the reason for the affordable price point.
If you had a Note 3, you probably wouldn't upgrade, if you've never owned one, well worth it for the small outlay i'd say.
