You're not alone going by most other people's experiences. I think I just got a dud. Doesn't look like it's getting much attention these days so probably just as well?

Meanwhile the Mi hasn't skipped a beat! Yet.

I've had one for a couple of months now. The U4 has been banished to the bedroom where it has replaced a FTA HD box & give me kodi. The Foxtel Now box has been banished to the rumpus room, replacing a FTA HD & a wireless AV receiver to help record football through a Hauppage box. The Mi box runs kodi, Foxtel Now, A Radio App (for the ABC) as I get FTA with a Fetch box.

Nice. How do you find the Foxtel Now app? Work ok with the remote?

I've got Netflix and Stan subscriptions. Plex for all my collections from a PC server. Kodi for a mix of local and IPTV channels via HDHomeRun. 7 Plus, Ten Play and SBS On Demand all run beautifully (SBS a little slow to load though). YouTube of course runs fine.

What do other people use on their Mi's?

The Foxtel Now app works just the same as it does on the Foxtel puck. It is still a crock of sh**t, but I only use it for sport (AFL, F1 & cycling). I do miss the ability to record which I had with the IQ2, but the On Demand facility gets around this. My main gripe is the "are you there" crap. It does work with the remote, but I also use a wireless keyboard which gives me a bit more flexibility.

I much prefer the Mi to the puck as it is cheaper, far more flexible, & a lot better overall.

I have a few side loaded apps installed on mi box, but they don't appear on the home screen apps.
I have to go in settings and scroll my apps and then open.
Is there any way of getting the app to appear on the home screen apps rather than going in via settings?

Download the app called Sideload Launcher from the Play Store. This gives you a shortcut on the home screen which opens a page listing all your installed apps including sideloaded ones. I don't think creating shortcuts on the home screen is possible but this meets you half way.

Shlocker did you have any luck with a hacked version of Foxtel Go, I’m looking for one so I can watch AFL on Sony Bravia (Android TV) the c0cksmokers at Foxtel only allow Foxtel Go to work on portable devices including PC’s (I’m not sure how portable a PC is other than if it’s a laptop/notebook).
I have heard others have Go working on Android TV’s so something must be out there somewhere.

Oh and sorry to go off topic a bit, but it seemed the logical place to ask, with what’s already been mentioned in this thread.

No Luck, cant find a "manipulated" GO app anywhere.
I tried HDMI blocker apps but still no luck.

I just upgraded box to Version 8.0.
The box is connected to AV Receiver with HDMI cable to rear AV input
Now it says on black screen:
This content is not compatible with your TV.
Please connect HDMI out to the HDMI input jack that supports HDCP2.2 of the TV.

When I connect to front AV-Aux input I get picture.
    The receiver is Yamaha RX-A1050.
    The specs say: HDMI Input/output - 8 (HDMI1-7: HDCP2.2 compatible) / 2 (HDCP2.2 compatible)
    Any ideas what is wrong.
I prefer to have rear cable connection for tidiness.

I tried a HDMI splitter - output direct from Mi box to in splitter then out to Receiver
Rear AV input and that worked.
But this is not acceptable solution as more gadgets, cables, and power consumption,
    plus very messy looking.

This was a must for me so I've been looking too. I have one of those dual mini pc/ android boxes with win10 and it works with that. One problem with the dual boot boxes is that the android is either 4 or 5, nothing new. Having said that I rarely use the android side of things, google chrome on the windows side works seamlessly. Also I'm neither a videophile or audiophile so it's probably lacking the high end specs.

I received an update to my box and since then, I cant use an external drive on the USB port. I have tried a Seagate drive and also a USB drive, no go.

I reset the box and re-did everything from scratch, still no joy. I use MX Player Pro (paid version) and it wont recognise any files at all.

I downloaded ES File Explorer, and I cant access anything on an external drive with it. The box does recognise the drive, for example when I plug in the Seagate, it says Seagate drive plugged in.

    Any ideas ?

The U4 is now destined for the bin as it was pretty much useless from the beginning. All videos no matter which app I was using would stutter even after multiple factory resets, software upgrades and swapping Wifi to LAN. Even the DVB-T channels would eventually begin glitching after about 30 minutes of viewing. It's a shame because I liked the interface and I liked not having to require a separate TV server of some sort to watch local FTA.[/QUOTE]

It is a shame as the u4 i have doesn't miss a beat, wired internet on adsl2 and streams perfectly, afl app on kodi works a treat, even the old m8 is still running well and plays practically everything, i dont think i would need another chinese box for a while, and this xiaomi seems to have limitations.

Just got a small update to fix bugs with V8.0 Oreo system update.
Now my HDNI connection gets pictures and not black screen -
"Please connect HDMI out to the HDMI input jack that supports HDCP2.2 of the TV"
Says it also fixes Fat32, NTFS and other issues also.
I would assume admin's issues would be fixed too.
