    Default Search Engine Pickup

    What sort of time should i expect to wait for search engines to pickup
    my website once up and running.

    Web guy said could take a day or 2 or even weeks.
    How often do google send out the spyder.

    Cheers in advance

    Did you submit your website to google? two weeks would be a maximum I would say for google to crawl it, their spiderlings seem to come past my sites once a week on average.

    also try submitting it to other search engines (microsoft live search is a good one because it is on ninemsn.com.au, and yahoo is on yahoo7.com.au) and dmoz.org

    nice site.
    you could look at adding meta tags perhaps?
    if youve hand submitted to google,yahoo ect, expect about 4 weeks.
    also theres no text on index page, may want to submit other pages too that have text on them.

    mean your site has no text on the 1st page.
    search engines like reading. sumthing to "pickup" esp, woogle.
    dream? try file\open\site?
    or right click a page,open with.

    I found creating a robots.txt file useful, as it acts as an invitation for bots, crawlers, spiders to index your site. I posted the link to a tutorial I used, it's simple, you use notepad to create the TXT file. Give it a go.

    Also try this.

    <meta name="keywords"
    content="professional home automation website site products Australia Australian automated security lighting audio structured pre-wiring Clipsal C-Bus CBus Wireless Niles Linn Inner Range systems specialists Metz Milos Sharp Aquos Zone Labs">

    the keywords used are for my site, but posted as an example.

    Another thing to include in your index.html file is this;

    <meta name="robots" content="ALL">
    <meta name="robots" content="index,follow,all">
    <meta name="revisit-after" content="1 days">

    this will instruct spiders, crawlers and robots to revisit after "x" amount of days and which ones.

    The revisit meta tag is bullshit.
    Don't use it.

    google "revisit meta tag canada" or look it up in wikipedia and you should see its history.

    nice post razzaq. Maybe I should buy a premium membership and post nothing comments for backlinks. Can't hurt my sites.
    Cheers for the idea mate.

    EDIT: all links are nofollow so of no use to SEO.

    meta tags are a waste of time , hardly any search engines use them anymore as they are too easy exploitable with keyword bombing

    what you need to do is concentrate on keyword density in the content , don't bombard it with keywords but at the same time need to keep the density up

    the only meta tag to worry about is <title>

    how long it takes for the engines to pick you up depends on how often the search engine index is updated , can be hours , or could be weeks

    don't worry too much about PR , that's just an e-dick thing , i have quite a few PR1's sitting in 1st posi for the search terms
