Windows 10 Restore

I've got myself into some stoopid registry strife (the type where you know you are doing stupid things but push on anyway) and want to restore from a system backup I made a while ago on USB.
Question: My laptop has an SSD split into two partitions. Will the USB only restore the C partition, or do I need to backup the D partition as well. I CAN do this but would rather avoid it.

I assume you used windows create a system image backup?
The default is to only backup the system drive (usually C). But you could have optionally added D.
So what did you do when you created the image?
Before you do this, is system protection on? You might be able to just restore to an earlier restore point, which restores the registry and any system files that have changed since the restore point was made.

I kinda screwed up the restore points too.....not happy but it is what it is. The image was for c: I'm sure, but Ive decided to back up the d partition anyway.
I'd do a full restore, but I can't be f*cked loading all the software again.

Restore points are usually automatically saved periodically, but as mentioned, only C drive by default.
If it's only the registry that's been affected, then all you should need is a system restore of the C drive.
When you select system restore to restore to an earlier date, what options do you see?
When I display all restore points they go back 7 days...and thats just not going to cut the mustard. I've done a couple of restore point restores to no avail.

If you boot from your windoze disk you select to repair your system. That obviates the need for for restore or a complete reload.

If your registry is corrupted, you may find all sorts of problems down the track.
Best fix is reformat & reinstall.
Yes... you will need to reinstall all programs. A huge PITA, but necessary.
Your D drive should be unaffected, but back everything up, regardless.
