No Roger. Totally true and necessary. Your comment was stupid and your post is showing your ignorance of this whole area. This is not a politically correct zone. I don't care if I offend you. Nothing personal. I would go out of my way to help you on a technical matter if I could. But if you post garbage I will point it out.

In what way is my comment stupid? In what way have I shown my ignorance? I've served on several juries, I've successfully completed several law subjects, I've attended court and sat in the public gallery throughout a couple of notable criminal cases and I've represented a friend, with the leave of the court, against another party who was represented by a barrister in a court case and won. We may disagree on this matter but the last thing I am is ignorant.

    Your statement was, to quote:

However for all 12 to find an innocent person guilty beggars belief.
Yet this happens far more frequently than I would like to see, and many such cases are widely publicised. The Jury system works remarkably well, but they do sometimes get it wrong. This is a good example of another jury that believed an apparently credible witness but got it wrong at the cost of a man's freedom:

A few peripheral involvements with the law and completing a couple of "legal subjects" seems to be a case of a little knowledge being dangerous. Juries are the best system we have, but a little reading of both case law and the press makes their shortcomings obvious. It in no way "beggars belief" that a jury might get it wrong.

And no knowledge coupled with a desire to use loopholes to protect paedophiles speaks more of the commentator than it does of the law.

No they sometimes do, but usually when that happens they let the bad guy off.

There are plenty from that time and location, as i have mentioned earlier in this thread
Most now have adult children, business and/or are respected men in the Ballarat community and really don't want or need the aggravation

It pleases me that some have stood up

If the police knows something they always leak it. This is well known on Child sex cases. This is known by the Police as 'RATTLE THE CAGE". Their good at it as they do it when it come parole time comes up for a well known serial sex offender as they contact the media, they blab this on the tv, the public has a fit, then the Attorney General tries to appeal him from being released..

Perhaps the following is one such leak:-
Two new accusers say George Pell abused them when they were boys in the 1970s

For decades, 53-year-old Bernie* kept the secrets of his childhood deeply buried.

As a boy growing up in a Ballarat orphanage in the 1970s, Bernie told the ABC's Revelation program that he was abused on multiple occasions by George Pell, then a priest in the diocese of Ballarat.
For years Bernie was convinced that if he reported the abuse, he would not be believed.

Well worth a watch of all 3 episodes on iView if you're interested.

News this morning that these two "new accusers" are in fact not new. One case apparently went before a judge and was thrown out. The other was even rejected by the prosecution....

    The ABC.....sigh!

Yes that is the problem that sexual assault victims suffer, not only are they traumatised by the act, but then no one believes them when they report the offence.

Try watching what they had to say and then see if you are of the same mind.

TYPICAL ABC they are like the Police they chose the Time time bring up matters up or keep it quite when it suits them.
As For Member DB44 he has criticized me on some post that I have written about these matters but what he writes it 98% correct.

I'm not interested in what they had to say, that's the courts job. I'm not interested in what Pell has to say either, that's the courts job.

The only fact it seems is that the ABC lied.....again.
