And the basic reason for that is that it is up to the prosecution to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt - not the defence to prove they are innocent.

Since when - that is still the burden of proof for a criminal trial.

The Lawyer representing the Victims of the sexual abuse said a while back that the Pell case was more about statistics and Conviction rates (before Pell was found guilty)

Generally speaking .... they were finding that it was very difficult to get convictions in sexual abuse cases due to lack of evidence and witnesses or credibility of the victim (in the past)

they then use these statistics to say they cannot get a conviction and argue evidence and witnesses or credibility of the victim should not be taken into account ...

more that they should be believed or a crime may go unpunished .... the "me too" movement of a lot of other people coming forward saying he did it to me too helped establish there was a pattern of behavior etc ...

however it also makes it easier for an accused innocent person to be convicted ....

    Wow! Interesting.....

The fact that there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.

In documents released on Tuesday by the Supreme Court, the OPP alleges the media organisations and individuals prejudiced and interfered with "due administration of justice in the prosecution of Pell", "aided and abetted overseas media's contempt", and that their publishing "had the effect of scandalising the court".
I think the courts have done a good enough job themselves re the 'scandalising'

Its as if the courts think ppl are still living in the 70's, where the only media/news the plebs had access to was the local newspapers

These days, the 'news' that comes thru the usual suspects is the last source to be believed

Whilst I am all for the freedoms to report such cases. Given the profile of Pell, the chances of suppression were almost nil. The media do have a duty of care to only report facts (yeah! riiiiight!) and should be banned from reporting on ANY cases UNTIL a person is found guilty. THEN there should be NO suppression even if appeals are pending. I am still uncertain of Pell's guilt, and, depending upon the reporting, the suppression order as it stood should be obeyed. The fact that this case has been reported internationally, It is somewhat anomalous that Australia should be excluded from the results. It ain't as though, no-one in OZ would know the result within a couple of days anyway.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

    George Pell's judgement day

Cardinal Pell could walk free, receive a retrial or stay behind bars
    Ruling will be live-streamed

If he will be found not guilty or better still he wins his appeal They will re-trial him a 100 times until the Prosecutor gets want he or she wants and since this is the case that want JAIL TIME!!!!!! See what happens in 99% of the time in QLD yes I know Its not QLD but they will re trial him and look before the amount of money he has and if he has no money and have to rely on VIC Legal Aid and then THEY HAVE got him Yes got him now! for good because Legal Aid is a Sham and just about never wins on Appeal case in sex Cases Australia wide, most Solicitor and Barristers know this.
Hang On the Phone is ringing, the Prosecutor is on the Phone, The Prosecutor said to me "DONT GIVE OUR SECRETS OUT" the Appeal today and will walk out the Court house but this case is Different as he can will walk out the Court room and a Free man and we will try HARD to Retrial him but he might try to escape to the protection of the "VATICAN" as we dont know if we confiscated his passbook or has other passbooks.

Jesus, a ruling Live streamed?, just show you how paranoid the population have become with sex cases.

Judgement was handed down 24min ago mate, its all over.
Live Stream.. What is your problem with that? He was a very very public figure with access to the common person.

The ONLY downside is the sentencing is too low, because they brought his age into account
Yet they didn't take the age of the victims into account did they, they have a full life of mental pain.

The circus is not over as it was a two to one decision not unanimous decision this alone will give him a new appeal.

The only thing i've learned from this, is Robert Richter was a clever man removing himself from this case, before this point.
When he could foresee what situation the case was in.

Oh well, back to free heating, free meals, free electricity and medical
Then again, i'm sure he had the same in Italy....
Speaking of Italy.... It will be a pleasant 32 degrees in Rome today
I bet he wishes he'd stayed there

One day all this Judge and Jury rubbish will not be needed as in the Future the Law System will be able to scan your head and get what really happened. Wont happen for 50 to 100 years but it will happen the quicker it happens the better for all of us. Just imaging this, you walk down the street and see anything that arouses you that is under age and the Next pole with the face recognition Camera you walk past you hear a "DING" Mister Civilian you have been Fined $200 for thinking dirty and this will go in your record. Geeee was there a Movie like this 'cant remember which one"
