    Default Hikvision DVR playback

Hi, I am currently in Thailand & accessing my DVR back in oz.

I get live view from here ok but remote viewing speed of recorded events is very slow as I am trying to see if anything is happening as there is a thief active at night.

From memory I have used 32 or 64 x speed at home which is good for what I want / do but from here doing it remotely I only get 4 x speed which is terrible.

Anybody know if this is a programming issue or just a limitation as the spec says 256 x playback?

    Thanks

Hi mate. It's one of two things. Hikvision NVR/DVR are notoriously slow on remote playback. But most likely it is your upload bandwidth from your house in Australia that is slowing things down. Try backing up then playing back (but i think you want to just review footage from your post). Hikvision NVR's currently rely on way too much bandwidth for remote playback without manual changing playback stream bitrate/frames etc.

Does it have the sub stream option, that reduces bandwidth a lot.
The model we have only has the smartstream visible when you when you view locally, not on the web page.
Not sure about the 256x speed, can check tomorrow.

I have the dvr set to substream & resolution of CIF.

The previous brand worked ok when viewing from overseas.

When I view it on my laptop I select sub stream or main stream & I go for sub stream when doing it remotely.

I download ivms software yesterday & it works better as it goes to 8x speed compared to 4x on IE, I will have to see if there are any settings on the dvr when I get back to oz this weekend.

Anyway, I am going to get it changed to IP cameras with an NVR.

Anybody know of what brands of NVR have fast remote playback(eg.32x, 64x etc)?
