    Default ripping BluRay movies

I have a 5 disk set that i need to rip to hard drive and also copy to blanks.

    (for personal backup purposes )

Of course they are protected so wondering if any one has a program to recommend?

    TIA

Yes your right rip with AnyDVD HD

But can burn with freeware ImgBurn to BD-R

Just drag and drop the BDMV folder into ImgBurn
Select UDF as ISO image type then Burn.

If too big can remaster with TsRemux to a Basic Bluray movie only and remove
    all unwanted audio tracks.

This thread is a little old now, but there is a good new program called Blu-Ray To DVD II PRO that will allow you to rip only the parts you want to HDD, then you can burn direct to BD-R using nero 8+ or imgburn.

Just read this thread, but have just started ripping Blu ray movies myself. I have found a good combination to do this on my computer.

    to view the ripped movies

    and slysoft to rip!

Very easy, and if you use a HTPC then this works perfectly with your remote control!

Geez fellas, Don't laugh but I've got over 300 VHS tapes, about half of which I'll want to burn to DVD when I get a burner.
Which by the way I know nothing about so guess where I'll be asking questions when I stuff it all up?...

    Dumb Duck.

    Hey Duck,
Not laughing. I probably have that many tapes too. Anyway, unless they are family movies, don't even bother trying to rip VHS tapes. There are cheaper avenues. You'll probably burn the laser out on the DVD recorder long before you finish or the power supply or both. In any case, having 300 DVD's lying about isn't that much better than having 300 tapes. I would opt for a media player. A 1 terabyte baby can store about 1000 DVD quality Divx movies on it and probably only has less than half the footprint of an average STB.

300 tapes each 4 hours, many recorded in LP, so probably 2000hrs of hard work.
If you had already done it a few years ago using Princo DVDs you would find that most of the DVDs would now be in the bin but the VHS tapes still be viewable if they were not prematurely thrown out.

I bought a PVR 2-3 years ago, mainly for this reason and have probably backed up 10 VHS tapes but acquired almost 100 DVDs from garage sales and Sunday markets.
Pretty much all of my old junk has become available on DVD.

BTW I find hard drives become less reliable the more storage capacity they have.
I consider it good fortune if you can get more than 5 years life out of a hard drive.

Just getting into BD ripping, have managed to burn 1:1 Lethal Weapon 2 ok using Nero 9 + anydvd onto a Ritek BD-RE and played ok on an Aldi player.

Just got to come to terms now with stripping out the movie and main soundtrack and remuxing these into a BD player friendly format for the larger than 25Gb BD's in my growing collection, currently using tsmuxer, Clown BD and DVDfab.

This all takes me back the the pre-dvd2one/dvdshrink days when we had to piece together DVDR friendly backups

Did a movie only conversion of Harry Potter 6 to BD25 using Dvdfab, the result was too big for a BD-RE by a hundred meg or so.
Next tried shrinking the main movie down to a 720p BD9, the movie was shrunk down to 7.8Gb burned this to a BD-RE it played beautifully (with better than DVD quality) on a standalone player. Tried burning this to a Memorex DVD-R DL disc which the standalone spat out. Will try burning at UDF 2.5 on next attempt

Have just about settled on BD Rebuilder (freebie) to shrink down the Blu-rays. All I need now is a faster PC (using a netbook atm) and a faster BD drive, maybe Santa will be kind to me next week.

    Hi,
I just make iso files with anydvd and store it on my Tb drives.
Simpler, faster and no lose of quality, HDaudio included. Don't know how much is a BD disk does days but HD prices are comming down.

    Cheers

    Here's the best way I reckon...for a HTPC anyway...

    Dump BD movie using MakeMKV

This way you can grab just the movie and 1 sound track. The video quality is retained as the original was.

I use Windows 7 MC for playback from Hard drive. I use Media Browser installed within Windows 7 MC, and Meta Browser to setup covers, backgrounds etc.

You must also install W7 Shark Codecs to give you native MKV in W7 MC through Media Browser....

    Works awesome!

Just make sure you have big hard drives...

After some fiddling around with numerous rippers/encoders trials on two BD burners and media.......Ive reached the same conclusion mborkp. Ive just ordered an MNP-101 media player that should handle BD iso's ok
