The "S" in the Model name stands for satellite.
The "C" in the Model name stands for Cable.
I imagine that the downconverters in each Box run at much differenr frequencies , therefore are incompatible.
Hi, not sure if there is a technical explanation but here is my delema:
I have just moved to a brand newish high rise and Foxtel have installed a new small PACE (DS250NF) with a blue NDS subby. Fox cable outlet is shared with my aerial so I have a splitter, one to box and one to my HD TV.
I also have a second valid PACE box (DC420NF) + blue NDS subby from my last place which when I connect up I get "No Signal is being received". If I plug this box back in my old place, I have pic.
Does that mean the 420NF is incompatible with the cabling/signal/splitter or do I need an amplifier? I have tried taking the splitter out of the equation and no difference.
Will it work if I used the NDS subby in a DM500c?

That make sense moeee thanks, which takes me to my question, so would a DM500S work with my sub card?
Im pretty sure the blue NDS sub cards work in both cable and sat dreamboxes. I have a blue sub card and have used it successfully in both a DM500c and DM500s.
the splitter allows sat tv feed and antenna FTA feed to come down one cable.
A 'cable' TV box will not work on a 'SatTV' feed and vice versa. The card 'NDs' is able to work in either unit as long as it has the correct signal feed.
Both Blue and White/Orange Cable cards with work in Sat dreams.
DM500s Black with rear on/off switch $99 inc post , DM800 sim 82 $250 inc post, DM800SE $310 inc
Thanks gado. Pls PM me your details for a DM500s.
