PS3 Hard Drive update
After reading in a recent Aust Home Entertainment mag about the immenet arrival of "LiveTV" the HDTV PVR addon for the PS3. It was also mentioned that due to the large amount of hard drive space required when doing HD recording, that the PS3 existing hard drive can be easly replaced with a larger Notebook hard drive.
Now that my PS3 is out of warrenty I have considered updating the hard drive, given the cheap price of 2.5inch notebook hard drives these days.
I have a couple of questions that someone may be able to answer.
1. Has anybody attempted this?
2. How is the OS stored on the PS3 and can you just place a naked hard drive in the unit and format from the PS3.
3. How easy is it to dismantle a PS3 and reasemble it successfully without having any screws or bits left over.
Thanks

upgrading doesn't void warranty
easy to do read ur instructions for the ps
it auto formats the drive
INSTRUCTIONS what are they?. ist that the last thing you do after everything else fails.
Thanks for that, I will follow up.
Time to get the jewlers screwdrivers out.

if your doing it yourself, careful u dont screw up the screws then u'll need to dig them out, lol... i myself did that but then made a custom copper platform for it
I thought Harvey Norman where selling PS3's with a 320gig Hdd around the $1000 mark, then $200 for the tv add'on
