    Default MyStar retired ?

I am having a problem with one of my Titan STB's and it was suggested that if it is indeed defective, it would be replaced by an iQ3 as the 'MyStar has been retired'
In a way this poses a problem although I have a dual outlet LNB and a multiswitch for the three Titans, the wall connections are single only terminals.
I am not interested in HD but doesnt the iQ3 need both inputs connected to receive all the 'normal' channels?
Not worried about terrestrial FTA either.

Yes, the iQ3 (like the iQ and iQ2 before it) requires two connections to an LNB/multiswitch.

If you don't have spare capacity on your present multiswitch, it will need to be replaced by a larger capacity model (Eg 8-way) and additional cabling and outlet installed.

Foxtel should provide this as part of the upgrade to iQ.

    Correct Gordon,

MyStar is no longer being installed and all existing MyStar boxes are also being progressively replaced as well with iQ3 boxes.

Ohhh! I can see a thread coming with "Help I have a just had an iQ3 installed & ???????"

Just kidding Gordon, I have one & will gladly help answer any questions.

BTW; I still have a MyStar HD box as a second room box & they wont replace it with anything until it breaks or I send it back; unless I pay for an upgrade.

The iQ3 isn't a bad box in it's current software version, however when it's connected to the internet it becomes slow in all functions & sometimes crashes, so if you aren't using any download functions, don't bother connecting it to the internet & it will be a much happier viewing experience.
    Cheers, Tiny

Might be just being slow getting around to doing Tassie.

I know that in VIC & NSW, Foxtel are making appointments with MyStar users to swap over to iQ3 boxes.

I've heard from a couple of people that Foxtel had contacted them to arrange a time to change over to iQ3.... not requested and no faults reported.

    Both had MyStar boxes.

I'd be interested to know if it cost them anything, as someone on the Foxtel forum said the other day that they were contacted and offered to upgrade their Mystar box to iQ3 for the special price of $75.
    Cheers, Tiny

The two people I know personally were not charged anything for the changeover from MyStar to iQ3 and they were told Foxtel are changing over all MyStar boxes with iQ3's.

Maybe it depends on who you talk to.... no doubt someone gets a bonus/commission if they 'sell' a product (Eg: special upgrade price of $75) when they will probably provide it free.

I don't know Tiny, perhaps Foxtel is doing different things in different places.

That doesn't surprise me, as they are always moving the goal posts and there's a history of different people being given different stories and deals.

I've lost FTA channels on my TV unless I use the IQ3.

(No separate antenna connection provided to the TV, fixed a couple of these.)

Watching FTA channels on the TV's tuner & they break up but they're OK through the IQ3.

(Only aware of reports at the moment, haven't come across one myself yet.)
