Default What's Wrong with Australian Tennis?

In the theme of the "What's Wrong with AFL" thread.

First thing i thought, is AFL is fine compared to Australian Tennis
FFS, has there ever been an era in which we have such spoilt, bad sportsmanship, whinging sooks out there, representing our country.

Honestly, is this the best Tennis Australia can come up with?
We have come a long way (mostly south) from the days of Pat Rafter.

    Bernard Tomic, total wanker
Nick Kyrgios, an embarrassment to the country (and the sport)
Those 2 make Mark Philippoussis look good.

And in Women's Tennis, we have to import a Russian just to be competitive, in Daria Gavrilova
At least she digs deep and plays with some heart.

    Yeah....I'm a bit like that...

OB...............I think it's just symptomatic of our society and it's total unwillingness to punish bad behaviour.. The authorities have allowed these two total tools to get away with their bullsh*t time and time again to keep them playing. If they had have said behave or just f*ck off in the first place there wouldn't be a problem. Sure, we would slip in the rankings, but sooner or later someone with at least a few manners and some national pride would rise up and be competitive.

Worst, our rising star is Kokkinakis.
Apart from the unfortunate surname and obvious nicknames (The Big Kokk), lets hope he has more personal pride and manners on court.
Even if "The Big Kokk" went down in the first round.

It is just plain embarrassing for Australia.

I would love to see Tomic bankrupt and working 8 hours a day in a factory. He needs a reality check.

I must admit, when Kyrgios started his antics, i first thought it was an act to get noticed.
Be the bad boy, then turn into the good guy, aka John McEnroe.
(get people talking, get noticed, then get sponsors... seems to be popular formula)

But it has gone far beyond that, he is just spoilt rich tool

The child has earned himself a $166,000 fine from tennis this time
What an idiot and horrible role model.

Swearing at the umpire, spitting in the umpires direction, failing to shake hands, etc etc

Come Tennis Australia, just drop him

Kyrgios makes John McEnroe look like an angel GRADE A+ Dic*head. I am embarrassed to say he is from Canberra.
Whoopie a $166000 fine is like pocket money for him put an extra 0 on the end, He should be banned from the sport for 12 months then see how his attitude is.

True, i just looked it up, he has earned $7.4M from tennis, just in prize money alone.
You're right SS Dave ban him for 12 months

He must have a clever team though, he has a foundation to provide sports facilities to underprivileged and disadvantaged youths.
Plus has made donations to worthy causes

He has them in a checkmate

Unfortunately I don’t believe it’s possible to ‘ban’ someone from all tennis. He can only be banned from individual competitions.

So if he was banned for 12 months from the current ATP tournament it would mean very little. He could still play in the US Open, or at Roland Garros or Wimbledon, etc.

Banning him isn’t the answer. Fine him a couple of mil, as you suggested. That might wake him up.

I thought only wimin watched tennis ??

The ONLY reason he has a charitable foundation is strictly for tax purposes, as in reducing how much the tool pays, I very much doubt he has ever thought about disadvantaged youth simply because the only person he has ever thought about is himself !!!!

    What's wrong with Australian Tennis?

It's tennis, one of the most boring, drawn out over rated cures for insomnia there is.

Concentrate on a positive, what a great kid (well young woman) Ash Barty is, currently Number 1 Womens player in the world, only second Aussie since Evonne Goolagong (Cawley).

You would have to say she is the polar opposite to the tools mentioned above.

Seems other players are of the opnion that Tennis needs him, more than he needs tennis.
They will never let him go, is the unanimous voice from players.

As i've said above, its very much the Happy Gilmour syndrome.
Behind Fed, Djokovic and Nadal, who is left to entertain... They all come to see this twit blow up apparently.

As much as i hate it, is seems to be the case across so many sports that have become boring and vanilla
V8 Supercars (yawn, no characters), AFL, (Zzzzz like watching runners exercise), F1 (.......... snore fest), etc etc

He is a total tool, be we are talking about him, its filled the papers and people will want to see what he does next
Even though its such a poor representation for Australia

I think you guys are right, all you can do is make the fine bigger and add to the entertainment
A literal game of tennis between Nick and the ATP.

At least the ATP get some prize money back
Maybe they can let the Umpire nominate the charity, then the ATP donates Nicks fine to them in its entirety.
    That gets everyone onboard
