Default Budget laptop for 4K editiing

    Hi guys,

I need a laptop under 1000$ (ideally 700$) that can edit 4k footage. The laptop will mainly be used for email and navigation, but about once a month it will have to be able to cope with video editing in 4k for my Youtube channel.

Looking forward to hear from you.

I don't like your odds for that price range.

What editing software do you intend to use and what are the minimum specs required to run it?

What format are you capturing/transferring files from the camera to the computer?

    Wondershare filmora.

Video footage captured on my LG G6 at 4K 30fps.

I might also end up editing some 2.7K 60fps from action cameras in the future.

Basically, I am after a laptop that is a great bang-for-the-buck option.

    You didn't answer my questions.

What (minimum) specs are required to run the software?

What method are you using to transfer the files to the computer?

To give you some idea, my editing lappy is a Mac Book Pro 15"

    2.9GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor

    16GB of 2133MHz LPDDR3 memory

Radeon Pro 560 with 4GB of memory

    Sony SxS card reader

Adobe Premiere Pro CC and After Effects CC edit software.

    It will handle 4K, but I only use 1920 × 1080 50i

    The lappy costs over AU$4,000.00

The software is around $90 per month on a 12 month contract.

Yes, the Mac is ridiculously expensive, but it's what I'm supplied with.

An equivalent spec'd PC could maybe be had for around half that price... or perhaps around the $2.5K mark.

Then you have the software cost on top.

So, $700 isn't going to get you much.

    System Requirements
Supported OS: Windows 7/Windows 8/Windows 10 (64 bit OS recommended)
Processor: Intel or AMD processor, 2GHz or above
RAM: At least 2GB physical RAM (8GB required for HD and 4K videos)

I will transfer the files with a USB type C cable.

Yeah... I am going to need something a bit less ambitious than your laptop.

What's the best setup I can get in Australia for 1000$ for the laptop alone?

Some decent options there, but is it impossible to get an SSD hard drive and a dedicated graphics card in the sub-1000$ category?

If you couldn't see one on that pdf of special priced offers, I very much doubt it.

You get what you pay for.

SSD and dedicated graphics are great for performance, but, if you are on a budget, guess what???? You can't get a Ferrari for the price of a Hyundai Jazz. Both will get you from point A to point B and back again. If 'twere me, I'd either save my money for a little longer or buy the Jazz and so the job, albeit slowly.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

You need to look at the secondhand market if you want to try and get all your requirements. If you are in Australia, Ebay and Gumtree are probably your best bets.

Ironically, I do video editing using Filmora.

On a Core2Duo Obviously at standard definition, but its amazing what can be done with an old machine sometimes.
