    These are over 20 years old now, time to share something I discovered. Back in the day when the XP software was written, the compiler did not optimise away a function like this:

    int IsThisFactoryMode()
    {
    return 0;
    }

    Now it's not as easy as changing the 0 to a 1, you need to change the comparison where the calling function checks the result.

    If you have the XP software, and your version in help - about XP is v5.00 you could try this:

    Make a backup of your X-3.exe file just to be safe, using a hex editor change:

    152D6 01 -> 00
    1A8A2 01 -> 00
    1AACD 01 -> 00
    1AAE6 01 -> 00
    1AD79 01 -> 00
    1B0B0 01 -> 00
    1D1FD 01 -> 00
    2441E 00 -> 01
    26CDD 01 -> 00
    27EB6 01 -> 00
    51A6B 01 -> 00
    51CFD 01 -> 00

    Save and run, are there factory options in one of the menus ??? now how did they get there.

    Hint: Options - Factory Masks - Set dev mode S, in Factory Settings - Dev mode is on, freetune TX has been enabled

    Guaranteed to void your warranty/type approval and all that shiz, amateur use only. Don't ask me for the XP software, go search.

    Rassilon: thank you for the posted info. I personally have no interest in the codan but its nice to see detailed info being posted. I have to agree the software in all units has increased the security and simple return x statements have been replaced with cascaded checks and even references to missing or encrypted code. I still find the challenge exciting.

    Possibly you have a different version. I should have included the correct file has a file size of 441440 bytes MD5 is 563e61d6190e344b6574e7c9877f519a.

    Lynt123 - It was fun to see what if anything could be done with the software, looking with a hex editor I saw the alternate menu text which got me motivated. First time with IDA, just the freeware version was enough, took some time to familiarise myself with it all.

    Hopefully it might be some motivation for others to have a go too.

    I should add, this applies to the 9323 too. Also for those who get excited the amateur mode option does not work, I suspect the code is missing from the radio firmware.

    Hello everybody! I have an old 9360 A version, which goes up to 26,5 MHz. I am afraid of bricking it and would like to know please on which of your versions did the hack work? Also any actual hex free editor to recommend?

    Thx 73.
    Best regards.

    I cant speak on the mods but I recommend either Hexworkshop, HxD or 010 editor. All take a bit of time to get comfortable with but once you know what your seeing editing is very simple.

    So will this enable free tune tx and USB/LSB for the 9323? Or only the 9360?

    Works for the 9323 (USB and LSB freetune TX, but still can't program a TX LSB channel from memory), I don't see why it wouldn't work for the 9360. I believe it's the same programming software, but as I don't have one I can't say for sure.

    Read your radio.
    Click Option menu, then click Factory Masks menu option, Set "dev mode" to S. Press OK to close the page.
    Write your radio.

    Can't put it any simpler than that, if it don't work it wasn't meant to be.

    Default Reply Rassilon for option menu

    I READ MY RADIO
    For me is difficult to arrive to your option menu inside my Codan 9360_30

    Not have in Mode this menu.

    Because there are plenty of menu in this rtx
    Can you send one link for this menu or one photo link,please?

    I controlled 4 codan 9360 manuals:
    Reference manual
    User manual
    Service manual
    Xp user guide

    For instance:
    At page 9/13 of 9360 reference manual I found :
    transceiver reset to factory setting,
    vhere:
    I "can reset user setting to the factory default values."
    This is the menu where is possible
    to set" dev mode"to S ?

    May be you are speaking about
    OPTIONS
    displayed inside xp menu?
