That is the low power version (2 litre) - the full on twin-turbo 3.3-litre V6is a bit more - somewhere up to $70K on the road.

Problem is it is a Kia - put a prestige badge on it and wow.

I had a run with one on the Mendooran road coming down from Canungra a couple of weeks ago. Great fun. Can't do it often enough these days......sigh!

We both got after it a bit and performance seemed compatico. At least within my current limits anyway.
The fact that there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.

That is not a Stinger GT though. This one has some options but is a demo.

Yes the police are getting the GT go fast version. The low kw version ain't goin to cut it for highway patrol work - might be ok for station duties though.

They aren't getting the GT, they are getting the 300s which has the same engine and transmission as the GT, but lower spec trim level......

I don't say so, the news article says so.....

Western Australia has joined Queensland in adding the Kia Stinger to its police fleet.

A fleet of 50 300S liftbacks will be hitting West Australian streets over the next 12 months, filling the gap left by the Holden Commodore SS and Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo.

The Queensland Police Force stumped for the Stinger 330S as well, foregoing the Si's bigger infotainment screen, bigger wheels and leather seats in favour of the S's identical performance and lower entry price.

yep , DPFs are great for the environment . Imagine if you were the crook being chased by a BMW , you just drive over long grass and make your getaway while it burns to a crisp

Actually I think you might be better to drive really slow for a few KM, let the DPF clag up and then take off before it goes into re-gen mode. :0)
Apparently the Toyota's had a problem with this which sent the thing into limp mode with no power.

Reminds me of when airbags first came out. Crooks in the UK would either reverse into or get the cops to run into the back of them which would set the airbags off and disable the cop car. Apparently they were set pretty touchy in the early days and deadbeats could go up to certain cars and kick the bumper and set the bags off.

I remember this happening to a cop friend in Sydney and this is the reason why the cops were told when they pull someone over always go in front of the car they are pulling over.

I've never seen a police car, when pulling a driver over, go in front of the pulled over vehicle. I know they leave a portion of their car towards the centre of the road, behind the pulled over vehicle, as a protection for themselves in case of a non attentive driver (young female on her mobile phone) slamming into the police car instead of the officer. I think your police friend was having a lend of you.

Pulling in front was the norm many years ago.
Now it is the behind and protect mode.

Living in inner Sydney for the first part of my sixty years, I never saw the pulling in front happen. Always behind. So if as you say Resch's it was the norm, maybe elsewhere, as I said not in Sydney. I stand corrected.

Not in Souf Oz either, always behind and sticking out into the traffic.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

Late 60's and early 70's on the Central Coast. Uncle was a copper and said it was to stop people speeding off.
These days with almost no shoulder on the road, the behind is safer, and that outways the flight risk.

Yep, I can remember this - cop stopping in front of car and walking back - mid 70's.
