    Default Dvr Advice

    Mates after a new DVR
    has 8 old shitty analog cams
    after a hybrid box that will take the old cams and has 4 ip camera option
    and has a good remote viewer app
    and may be alarm inputs
    as he wants a couple of megapixel night vision for his yard
    budgets about a grand
    anyone recommend one

    I would recommend Dahua hybrid system in saying that thought his budget might be enough as you often need a poe switch to supply power to the cameras, i would ditch the analog and upgrade to CVI cameras (uses old cabling) but still gives you a 2mp option. ive used them myself and it helps bring cost down a bit, smart phone app is good and has built in p2p option so minimal setting up is required.

    he will need a 16ch NVR to allow 12 cameras to be used

    Why anyone would use HIK or Dahua is beyond me

    If cables are already there then i would suggest he use AcuSense DVR from Hikvision as it support Artificial Intelligence Technology. By using AI he will get much less false positive alarms in the yard. As well it supports adding up to 8 IP cameras. Cheers

    Easy. They are cheap.
    I price is your main concern, you buy cheap stuff. Quality is not bad.
    If security is important, you shop elsewhere, and stay away from made in china and made in usa.
    And you do not use the internet.
    And you design the system before you buy.
