I was talking to a young lad today who collects "old" phones. Another friend commented that he had an old maggy phone with the crank handle. The young fella had no idea, his idea of "old phones" were "old mobile phones. . It could well be that in the not too distant future that our messaging will all be video, possibly holographic.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

think i joined in 2002 or 2004 (04 on ocau so) in those days i was hailed " Quadspeed " the idea was that being a quadriplegic & always in a hurry

but somehow people related me to some sort of cd drive? i had nfi @ that stage what they meant

i swapped to philquad some years later

i was famous at one stage for writing a tutorial on gold cards. not that i really understood it, i think i just jagged it 1 day

there was very helpful guys in those days, i think they sold fired wood, always referred to as loggers ?

i even hosted 1 of the rare Austech Parties, i think there was about 10 of us, way too much drinking

to the old boys Tag: Trigger51 ? Tomahawk WhiteOx ( fernbay & MANGO rip) & many more im sure

This is an excellent forum that I have been frequenting for about 18 years. I love it for it's great information and the advice from knowledgeable members, but also for the nostalgia factor as well. I am not 50 yet admin but I'm almost there in a little while, so this forum has been a sizeable part of my life too.
All the best admin, may you continue your good work and may Austech continue successfully for many years to come.

    Cheers

For some reason I thought "wonder if I still exist" and thought I'd pop back to say g'day. Good to see there's still a bit of activity around.
I remember having an early meet at a chinese buffet near Southland as a teenager. Think The^^Rock and I were the only children in this group of online adults, both travelling without a parent. Probably would be perceived negatively these days.
The forum and chatroom years were a formative era of my childhood/early adulthood.

I was there at the start. Copying psx cd's Don;t have quite the input I used to, but still visit regularly to keep an eye on things
When I was a kid, I used to have an imaginary friend. I thought he went everywhere with me. I could talk to him and he could hear me, and he could grant me wishes and stuff too. But then I grew up, and stopped going to church.

Sorry I havent been back in to this thread for a while, great to see some old Faces.

Yes phil, I think I remember that tutorial. If you wrote one back then, you were held in legendary status....almost like a rock star. I wrote one once and was surprised I wasnt asked for autographs. I dunno how Ghostaman fought of the groupies

Ozidude, good on you mate, there are still lots of people that still drop in occasionally and have for many years.

The chatroom Toke, yes, a source of much trouble for me over the years. Constant death threats, threats to blow my house up.......it was great fun to visit. It was the days of the "wildwest" internet when there was no sheriff.

Mods, given we are the same age you have probably almost been here as long as me. Thanks for all the help over the years, I reckon you have saved me a few grand

Cheers Blinky, I recall seeing your name around for many years as well.

Although much in electronics goes over my head, I had a hell of a lot of fun following those members who were 'Into it' and learnt how much I didnt know up to the time of the Changeover to Terrestrial Digital TV.
I have asked a hell of a lot of questions, some bleeding obvious demonstrated my ignorance and with extremely rare exceptions (hysterical Laughter in the Background) I was generally steered in the right direction.
The Forums cover everything and it does no harm to have diverse opinions so long as they dont deviate from MINE !!!!
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

Hi, Those were the days with Foxtel & Optus. It seems quite stupid to be involved with looking at it now,
but pushed me harder into electronics and programming, so a good outcome I suppose.
That never got me in trouble, but I did get a letter from Sony’s lawyers around that time, assuming I was selling copied game CDs (which I wasn’t) because I was putting chips in the consoles.

What - you got a letter..??

I ended up being in court because I installed a ModChip in a coppers sons PlayStation - Luckily, the judge took my side on it being "only used for personal backups" and it was him that had acquired illegitimate discs

Not just a letter, but also an exhaustive list of games which was nice to have. I still have that list, but I suppose it became outdated
That sounds nasty. I did advertise to do the chips in a paper, which is where Sony would have got my details from, but there were no copied games involved.

I wish I had kept all the letters I got

Actually a lot got posted on Austech, but got lost in the 2008 crash.

My main method of defence was attack, so I posted up their legal threats and bagged the crap out of them and publicly shamed them Somehow it worked for me

They say people spend at least 30% of their life sleeping, how can that be when they really are locked on to a monitor and keyboard.
Don't know if that is good or not, but I have certainly learned a thing or two from this site and the competitor whirlpool.
Over the years I haven't needed to login, just viewing was ample, with so much helpful info available, just hope you guys can last a lot longer.
Being involved with computers since 1976, it is amazing what is out there and the sponge like need for info.
Thanks for all that have had input/output, gee I guess we all just must be just a program!
